Oct 21 class date

Alright, trying to figure out the class for Oct 21. How many Cadets, prior mil and prior 121 guys. I’ll be there and trying to get ahead on experience levels coming in at the same time. For anyone reading that will be in the Oct 21 start date, I’m prior Mil evaluator, west coast commuter and hoping for Chicago or Dallas ( yes I know, long shot) and looking forward to working with you all. Post below if you are in the class also!

My flight lands early on Sunday the 20th so if you are there, let’s plan on grabbing a drink!

They won’t give you that info. You’ll find out base and equipment on day one. Not even 15 minutes into day one.

Cadets

Prior 121 (by hours)

Everyone else.

Good luck and welcome!

My mistake, not asking for info from employees but happy to hear opinions, more looking for fellow classmates and their interests...and possibly arranging a dinner night before class. Already know how many cadets are in class by the way.

Apologies. I guess I misread your post where you wrote,

“Alright, trying to figure out the class for Oct 21. How many Cadets, prior mil and prior 121 guys”.

which is why I answered that they wouldn’t give you that information.
:)

At any rate, best of luck. Hope you get what you want. The last class was 50/50 on equipment.

How many cadets in your class? As far as I know those guys are keeping the class #’s afloat

Copper 10-02-2019 11:35 AM

5 with possibility to change. Hoping to find if there is anyone out there reading this that is in the class that is prior military or at least over 30 so I can get a better understanding of experience in the class. Secretly hoping I’m not the only “old one” in the class... ok you got the real reason I posted this.

I’m already in the mindset of 140 to LGA. Just assuming of course. No preference on jet believe it or not.

I’m knocking on 40 and had 3-4 older than me in my group. If that helps.

That's not true. Largest numbers are RTP and OTS. Cadets are usually a minority in a class.
3-5 on average based on the latest seniority list.

Copper 10-03-2019 10:06 AM

They said it could change but that’s the number as of Monday when I called in

Just looking at recent classes, the typical class make up has been about 4-5 cadets, 1-3 prior 121 guys, and the rest are by age which includes the rotor guys, probably about 12-15. I haven't run the numbers in detail, but it appears that in a typical class at least 75% of the class is under 30.

Not to get your hopes up but if you're "older" I wouldn't worry too much about getting LGA/JFK. You can most likely bet on ORD 175/145. There were a ton of ORD FO slots open on the last vacancy. DFW is notoriously senior and so it going to NH does happen but slots are very tight generally speaking. You'd most likely be able to get down to Dallas within a couple months if thats your end game however.

At age 38, what I told myself...as did 11 other that picked after cadets and before me. We had the geriatric class though. I picked 17th out of 23.

Me too. I’m also 35+ and was in the bottom third. Whoever said 75% are below 30... yeah, I wouldn’t count on that.

Ok good to know. In that 35+ category. It’s hopeful seeing more 175’s going to NH. Trying not to get hopes up... feel like Jim Carrey “You’re saying there’s a chance”.

It’s a crap shoot. I watched classes for six months. In each of those I would’ve been able to get 175, and overnight in my home town..
Until my class lol. That’s just part of it, and you have to find a way to way to make the best of it. Christmas time in nyc sitting reserve will be my silver lining I guess

But seriously 10-11-2019 06:31 AM

DFW 145 went to people still in training/IOE in this last bid. Transfer dates still TBD, but clearly it’s not TOO senior. Honestly, a lot of it has to do with timing. If you start training in OCT, there won’t be another bid until Jan (most likely). Then add 2-3 months waiting for the transfer to become effective.

Hello, looking to be based in MIA. Sounds like decent chance of getting the 145. Would you agree with that assessment? If lucky enough to get the 145, any guesses how long to get MIA and how many monthly average hours are flown on reserve lately?

Thanks.

Probably will take a while. MIA is the most senior base for the 145 and it’s a shrinking base.

You will be on reserve a while once you do get there.
