Paternity Leave

I heard NYC provided paid paternity leave. Does that get paid once you go on FMLA or do you have to fill out other paperwork through NY? Also how long do you have to be based in NY to be eligible for the benefits?

Is NY the only place we can get paid paternity leave? How about Chicago?

Nothing in Chicago.

You have to call The Hartford & complete the paperwork in addition to the normal process for going on leave. As far as I know there's no requirement to be based in NY for a certain amount of time. You just have to have worked for your employer for 26 weeks and be working in NY state.

You will be responsible for the employer share of your health insurance premiums while out on leave.
