Recession survival thread
Not trying to fear monger here, but I can't believe no one is discussing this. The global economy is screeching to a halt, the U.S. markets have fallen nearly 30% in the last couple of weeks. No one knows where the bottom is going to be, but with whole industries shutting their doors for at least two months, things will likely get worse before we see an improvement. AA has given options to their pilots to take a voluntary leave of absence this year. But no word on how we will be affected yet. Supposedly there will be some sort of airline bailout package, but no details as of yet. I hope I'm wrong in all this, but now is the time to start planning and preparing. Especially those on the bottom 50% of the seniority list.

I recall last time around one of the airlines (NWA or one of their commuters?) published a survival brochure for their furloughees which included tips on dumpster diving. Completely serious.

Everyone in this profession should know how this all works. We’ve been here before and it’ll happen again.
I don’t care where you are on the seniority list, if you (not you personally) haven’t made a plan B or C, you’ve got nobody to blame but yourself.

My plan B is to accept the company's generous offer to sit at home w/ greatly reduced pay but apparently they want me to die of corona stranded in a hotel 2000 miles from home and replace me with a displaced TSA guy.
