Guys, can we please give it a rest? Why all the bashing here? Let cooler heads prevail. I understand the premise but this is an online forum and what you are doing is wholly unnecessary. I seriously doubt any of the posters here are the original person affected anyway so let's give it a rest.

That's probably what your union needs to fix.
Im pretty sure the union cannot change the IT system the largest airline in the world runs on.
Removing this function would also remove the consensual pilot to pilot trades, something that would be harmful for everyone.
It has never been abused like this before, no-one has been sleazy enough to do this to a fellow pilot until a few months ago when the Blue Falcon started doing this to fix his schedule while ruining other's.

Im not familair with the method involved to do this but wouldn't a confirmation page that both parties agree on for each individual transfer of trips prevent this from happening in the future? The fact that the system allows consentless transfers is a serious issue

I had a line pilot tell me someone wrote bugs into the system on purpose and then the company calls them to fix the bug. its like trying to update SABRE. your trying to take out the beating heart.

I agree with you, changing it would be next to impossible and even if you did, it would hurt other positive features of that ability.

Perhaps a comms about it? Some sort of punitive action for future occurrences? Just spitballing here.

That would remove real time trip trading. No bueno.

You are asking the largest airline in the world to change the IT infrastructure from the late 60s the whole airline runs on. Instead of just being a decent human being and pilot, and refrain from doing this.

If you see an iPad someone forgot in the crew room for 5 minutes while he is taking a morning constitutional, you dont steal it.

Quick recap since much as been lost:

Pilot exploited a vulnerability in DECs to steal pay and to steal days off by literally dropping trips on other pilot's schedules. He conspired to do this by stalking the pilots and attacking when they were participating in ATTOT. Refused to undo what he did. Confirmed.

Bragged about it in the crew room. Has expressed no remose. Alleged.

Has had his CFI certificate revoked due to a pattern of incidents/accidents with his students. Alleged.
I may be wrong here, but as I understand the system, you are only vulnerable to have this happen while you are utilizing TTOT and are actually in the process of, or have left your system “Yes” or open to trade (HIY). QuickTrade made the entries fast enough and automatically turned the system to “No” (HIN) following a trade that doing this kind of nefarious action was virtually impossible.

Unlikely. I’m sure he still believes he’s innocent because, “anyone could've done it.”
