I may be wrong here, but as I understand the system, you are only vulnerable to have this happen while you are utilizing TTOT and are actually in the process of, or have left your system “Yes” or open to trade (HIY). QuickTrade made the entries fast enough and automatically turned the system to “No” (HIN) following a trade that doing this kind of nefarious action was virtually impossible.

The practice of stealing someone else’s schedule doesn’t have to be technologically impossible in order to be specifically forbidden.
We haven’t had this problem before, but since Pandora’s box has been opened, why not just specifically say it requires affirmative agreement between two pilots to trade?
You could even put in a clause stating that you MAY be held financially responsible for damages to the offended party.
We already have that on the non-rev travel privileges.

I agree with your intent but this might create a problem. What if the other party changes their mind? All they have to do is say "I never intended to trade". That would be just as bad as what Blue Falcon did but if someone is unscrupulous enough to do what Blue Falcon did, someone else will come along at some point and do that.

I worked with a pilot who was a pathological liar. I thought within the second day of him being at the company that something didn’t wash. By the third day, I was sure he was full of $h!t.
He said and did some things that were very questionable but eventually did something very much like this. He signed up for an OT shift and didn’t show. We were a very small company. He claimed someone else had signed him up for it. There were two others that had WANTED to work the shift but he argued with them that he should got it because they already had some OT. They fired him.
Point is, people like this have done it before and will continue to do it if they are allowed to stay.

Any kind of theft should be an auto-terminate imo. I am surprised anyone is taking the opposite position, even thkooj.
Imagine flying with someone who would throw you under the bus and lie to protect his own certificate at your expense, and something goes wrong.
Imagine leaving the cockpit to go to the lav with a known thief who allegedly laughs and brags about stealing from other pilots at the controls.

If the union can't get them to fix the IT, they need to ensure that anyone who's schedule was manipulated without his consent is not accountable .
