ENY closing LGA+MIA 145s, ditch E140s

BREAKING:

Envoy has officially announced E145 base closures and E140 fleet reductions.
- LGA and MIA (E145) bases to close Jan 31st.
- E140 fleet to retire.

* Company intends to replace 140 fleet with newer E175.

Source: Company memo.

Doesn't say they will be replaced by 175s it just says they're going away. Don't need this many pilots so when does round 2 start?

But seriously 10-28-2020 12:43 PM

While all true, this is anything but “breaking news”.

All the pilots have been displaced out of those bases, so the official closing dates are relatively meaningless. By my count this is at least the second, if not third, time the 140’s are being permanently retired.

Some of those 140s are great airplanes that have seen me through some stuff.

:(

Everything but the dates were already known via prior company memo(s).

how many planes do we have on property now? The plan is to go to 165... so how many fewer is that?

somewhere in the ballpark of 8 compared to pre'rona iirc.
With management, schoolhouse people, leaves etc we were staffing about 13 per airframe
so this is roughly 2145, which is about where we are

I know their plan for awhile was to use the E140s just to tide them over. So, sounds like this was the opportunity, much like the fleet retirements with AA: E190, A330, B757, and B767 being retired.

NOV they 140s are replacing the 175's in my home airport. Not 145's - 140s. It's terrible. The 175s are full. Commute is about to become harder.

So with the 175 base opening in Miami I suppose that is going to push Republic out just like it did when it opened up at ORD?

The 175 staffing in MIA is only for five planes. That’s about what it was on the 140/145s. It just an equipment change.

For now. In this economic environment Envoy isn’t spending the cash on this move so that they have five planes in a market.
