Rumor out there of a Envoy Captain passing away shortly after takeoff this weekend out of ORD. Can anyone from Envoy verify this?

RIP

Not Envoy but it's not a rumor.

DEC on OE. LCA landed the plane single pilot. Horrible situation handled perfectly by the crew. Condolences and RIP.

What company is operating using ENY callsign if it's not Envoy? And getting announcements from RW?

I think the previous poster was saying that they are not an Envoy employee.

The "You can see ATC" YouTube channel has the audio and radar track of this flight:

Also thanks to the fellow pilot onboard offering to help run the radios back to the gate.

Pretty sure the "Not Envoy" part is saying he doesn't work for Envoy. The OP asked if "Anyone from Envoy can confirm."

Oh ok, interesting way to say that I guess.

One should never underestimate the value of a second pilot in the cockpit. Just ask those passengers and cabin crew.

A terrible tragedy for the Captain and his loved ones. May their loss be softened by outcome of his final flight.

I didn't think anyone was guessing on which airline it was.

Wow. There goes the idea of single pilot ops. Sad

it’s likely “standard” at most every carrier:

confirm clearance to xyz
confirm altitude
confirm cleared to X fix prior to execute
confirm Thrust Lever, shut off
confirm Fire Handle, pull
confirm generator disconnect
confirm hydraulic system off

when single pilot ops come to training centers……oh yeah, all that confirming, not required now, we trust you more than before.
