Vacation Accrual, etc?

How many weeks of vacation after 20 years? What’s the sick leave policy like? Fatigue policy? ORD DEC Captain reserves getting used everyday?

Thanks!

- 4 weeks vacation after 20 years

- after 5 years of service, sick accrual is 4.0 hours per month. Max accrual is 485 hours.

- fatigue policy, call in fatigued if you're tired. Don't sign the fit for duty before flying. Submit a report within 48 hours of the call. We have a FRMP (fatigue risk management program).

- can't specifically address/confirm if ORD DEC reserves are flying everyday, but generally all DEC reserves are flying most days, at least the junior reserves.

Thanks for that info. Is there any sort of pickup window for reserves as far as picking up trips?

I heard there is a pickup window—they call it proffering—between 10 am and 2 pm for the next day. Trips are awarded to reserves only in seniority order for the following day once that window closes. Open time is a different system.

you heard right. Unofficial results are usually out 3-4pm, become official 5pm, at which point you call in to confirm via automated system and then it's yours - helps planning commute/activities

Unless another pilot takes it from you. ;-)

in which case you feel good that someone is doing for a couple of extra bucks vs it being included in your reserve guarantee, refer to letter 13-13 B.2.b.i-iii and don't sweat it ;-)

How does it help plan your commute if another pilot can take it from you after you confirmed it?

I was being a bit facetious. I am a big fan of LOA 13-13 and think those that hate it misunderstand it. But the "and then it's yours" had a bit too much finality to it and I couldn't help myself. ;-)

It's final if you're on the turnback list :)
