Envoy Questions

Hello all,

I understand that Envoy's future is questionable, but I live in DFW and am considering applying. I'm hoping that someone can answer a few new-hire type questions:

Is it possible to hold DFW out of training? If not, what's the junior base and how long would you guess it would take to get back to DFW?

Are new hire's going to the EMB or CRJ?

Do they pay per diem during training?

Any estimate on how long it would take to get off of reserve?

How long for insurance and travel benefits?

Is there any reason at all to be optimistic about Envoy's future?

Any other info would be appreciated!

As mentioned, I am fully aware of Envoy's situation but I want to explore the local option - I've been a commuter before, and would rather not do it again.

Thanks!

New hires are going to the emb and Crj. New York is junior, dfw is attainable if not out of training, soon after. Dfw is only an emb base for now. Yes, paid during training and paid per diem as well. And honestly, there's nothing to be optimistic about here other here. It sucks and everyone is trying to bail.

If I'm not mistaken you will likely get the CRJ which is NY or ORD. If you would get the EMJ it probably won't be DFW initially, rather NY or MIA. From there you will be able to bid back as time goes on. I talked to a few new hires in MIA that took them about 4 months or so after IOE to get to DFW, but that's always subject to change.

You get something like 14 or 16 hours a day per diem while in training.

It will take years to get off reserve regardless of base.

Travel benefits occur nearly immediately which essentially gets you the same privileges for listing as anyone at Eagle or AA, excluding jumpseat rights...seniority on own equipment and AA obviously has priority on its equipment otherwise it's based on time of check-in for D1 or D2.

I'm not positive if health benefits are immediate but I know it's very soon after starting class day 1.

To be optimistic about Envoy greatly depends on who you ask and you're probably going to get blasted on here. Overall though, no, not much to get excited about. If there's another regional at the top of your list I would highly recommend exploring that option before jumping to Envoy under the current condition.

Should new hires actually expect to be on reserve for years? I would imagine not.

Maybe someone with recent personal experience can chime in here but I really do think it's 1+ years...guess I'm not sure if its years as in 2+. Of course this varies with base and/or equipment.

Gotcha. Anyone know how it is in MIA?

In MIA it is for sure over a year but again not sure if it's at the 2+.

Isn't Mesa planning to put a CRJ crew base in DFW to replace the envoy ERJs?

Quicker upgrade. Less time on reserve. No commuting to JFK, ORD, or MIA. Growing fleet.

To my knowledge at this point that's still rumor, not announced. While it may seem likely it's speculation still, and not worthwhile making any hard decisions off of if in fact you're dead set to stay in DFW.
