Default AA Blacklist if leaving before flow

Word on the street is if you leave Envoy before the flow (5-6 years or whatever it was), AA blacklists you from interviewing for 5 years. Can anybody verify that?

Also if that's the case, any WO folks have any suggestions to go around the flow to AA? 5 years is an awful long time to miss out on a good amount of hiring/seniority. Ain't nobody got time fuh dat.

Thanks.

Judging by the number of former Envoy guys/gals being hired away by AA from the ULCCs this is either a myth or an extremely recent policy change.

Can you elaborate a bit? Like, they said "try again in 5 months"? Did he end up getting in?

That is absolutely false.

They did him a favor. Imagine the extra he'll have in his 401k versus being hired right in.

They CJO him at the interview but was told expect a class date in about 5 months. He asked to be an alternate for an earlier class or for the option of an earlier class and was denied (recruiter was a friend too)

Possible Myth (my sample size is only one person though)

Friend was sent home from Envoy to sit during covid. Ended up flying for a 135 and upgraded to CA. Envoy started calling back but he was already part 135 CA in a nice bizjet. Got hired by a different major and just got a CJO and class date from AA.

He was thinking he was likely blacklisted as well, but being hired by a competing major likely made the difference.

He beat the flow by at least two years, but that wasn't his plan, it was just how things worked out.

Seem pretty confident about that. Not trying to start drama but would love to hear how you're so certain

Everyone I know who left the WO for an AA competitor has been in class at mainline within 6 months of their departure if they wanted to be. The Blacklist thing is a rumor crafted by WO management and passed along by fear mongering WO pilots. Don’t trust anyone who tells you this. Especially if they’re senior to you.

AA desperately needs mainline pilots but needs WO pilots more. They’ll lie to you to keep you at the WO but once you’re gone to a competitor (which is the key part… going to someone they compete with makes it worth their while to steal you) they’ll bring you back to mainline, even when you leave as an WO FO and go to a place like Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit etc. Just keep updating your app once you leave.
