Envoy vs. TSA

What do you all think the better move is for a new hire right now? ORD base is great for me, and both can accommodate that, Envoy seems to be a bit more stable being WO, additionally the flow is enticing (regardless of what people say here) TSA's growth and movement within the company are very appealing, and the pay is a significant improvement over Envoy, also people seem to be happy there.

I am stuck on what to do. This is my first airline, and step outside of 91k/135. Ive done a bunch of research and these two seem to stick out to me.

Any (constructive) input is very much appreciated.

I don't think new hires are getting ORD out of training at TSA. Think most are going to STL.

thats actually a good base for me as well, but I was under the impression that moving bases could happen within several months. but maybe I'm off on that

Well yeah if you're okay with that, then TSA is a good option.

word302 12-07-2015 06:55 PM

ORD is SkyWest's most junior base on the 175 and second most junior on the CRJ.

guarrrdddddd.
but admittedly, I haven't looked much at skywest, as it seems their movement in the company is not as competitive (or so i think), and as far as the 170 goes, the airplane doesn't play a big role in the selection process.
thanks tho!

Envoy Jr base is ORD. Management is saying that the 30 e-145 that AAG sent to TSA and Xjet will start coming back next year.

The flow is good for your back pocket, apply like everybody else to the majors.

By January we should start sending 25 to 30 pilots to AA, seniority will start improving and the list will be moving faster. Good luck with your research.

FaceBiter 12-07-2015 07:19 PM

If you can stand to live in the 4th world that is ORD SKW should be a slam dunk.

knobcrk 12-08-2015 04:20 AM

Ord is a small stagnant base for Tsa. Especially if you plan on upgrading. If Ord is what you want I'd go Skywest. Don't know much about envoy other than we had their FOs come here for the quick upgrade.

Eaglepilot84 12-08-2015 06:03 AM

According to one of the union reps on eaglelounge, we've been told to expect 30 flows for January :) 17 have already been given a class date for the first class in January. Lot's and lot's of movement heading this way...FINALLY.

Also, it was stated the 15 from TSA and the 15 from XJT were coming back as early as this spring. Still no official announcement, though.

We just installed new software for w&b. Plus we are opening an rdu base, so I doubt we are giving flying back. We were told if we can staff the AA flying we have the possibility of getting more envoy planes.

Don't hate the player. He's just stating the facts. I've been present when management and the union stated they were coming back. Does that mean they are for sure? Of course not. Things change quite frequently with AAG. Just wait and see.

Rmk1991 12-09-2015 11:56 AM

Hey waker92. I'm relatively new still at TSA and got ORD based. Took me 5 months to get based here and I was STL for the first 4. Feel free to PM with any questions you have and I'd be more than willing to talk to you about what I know/my experience.

There's movement at envoy? Lol. If you were on the TSA boat you're a year too late. 50 sweaters are in jeopardy at all airlines...TSA is all 50 seaters.

vette87 12-09-2015 09:20 PM

I just finished IOE and im looking at 2 months MAXIMUM on reserve, and an ORD base by FEB as well.

What does envoys reserve look like?

Not what Doug Parker is saying. Aag management keep saying the tsa planes are coming back end of 16 in to 17

The fact that any pilot for any company believes anything anyone in management says is hilarious. Pilots are so dumb. Nobody has a clue what they are planning.

Smutter 12-10-2015 08:12 AM

Does Steve Briner still work for TSA or is he gojet. Don't go where he is.

Given the number of people that they have scheduled for the December and January new hire classes, envoy's reserve will be down to less than 6 months.

Maybe these guys will wave to you from their AA mainline equipment after they flow to AA and you are still at TSA enjoying your regional contract hoping that maybe today will be the day that United will give you a chance to interview for a job.

In the current hiring environment, I'd be willing to bet most current and eligible RJ captains will have been hired by some mainline...which is before your new hires flow to American.

Very good possibility. And... I'm going to blow your mind here... an envoy pilot can still apply for those same jobs that everyone else is while waiting for the flow.

Yeah, cause I have zero interest in the other regionals. Same garbage different thread name.
