Yeah I was wondering about that too.
Does anyone know if there’s a difference between a Voluntary TDY vs an involuntary TDY besides the obvious (that one is voluntary one isn’t)?
I heard that the involuntary TDY was 10hrs extra pay/month + 24/7 perdiem and a hotel for the entire time you’re TDY’d.
And that voluntary TDY was essentially the same, only short the 10hrs of extra pay/month.
The HI6 message said they needed 20 CA’s and 30 FO’s. Any predictions on if they’re likely to get those voluntarily or if they’ll have to reverse seniority some people into involuntary TDY?

Voluntary TDY- You get a hotel and 24/7 per diem all month if you don't use A passes to go home but can't bid your seniority in the TDY base. It's likely you'd be on reserve with this option. If you're junior and on reserve in your current base it can be a good option to pocket a $1400 per diem check and have a hotel all month to go explore ORD. A passes for travel to TDY are allowed
Involuntary TDY-You get a hotel and 24/7 per diem all month if you don't use A passes to go home but are allowed to bid what your seniority can hold in the TDY base. For this upcoming month you'd have to be on the bottom of the list. It's unlikely you'd get it unless they TDY for a prolonged period of time like they did with ORD last winter and spring. Not a horrible thing if the base you get TDYed to is less senior than your current base. A passes for travel to TDY are allowed.
Home Based TDY- No hotel or 24/7 per diem but you get to bid what your seniority can hold in your TDY base. Commuters and even some locals that can access the TDY domicile use it if they get a seniority bump in the TDY base. Comes with A passes and you can also use the good faith commuter policy as well. Company likes it because it saves hotel and per diem money. Certain pilots like it for the possible seniority bump in the TDY domicile and maybe easier commuting especially on the back end for an A pass home.

I posted this the last time we had TDYs

Yes it's A travel but it's A12. Not as good as A3D but better than D1. You book the A12 yourself via HIGO in fos (just put A12 at the end of the command instead of A1D or A3D).
The A travel is from where you live (anywhere in the contiguous 48 states) to where you're 'Home Based'. Something that really needs to be pointed out for those that are commuting anyway.
While it's true you don't get a month long hotel like the other TDY's, company will provide you a hotel room at the beginning or end of the sequence if necessary. Just use the RF 200 HTL and don't select 'commuter hotel'.

Only 600/650 both would require differences most likely, but same “Type”.
