Upgrade time is dropping rapidly. The vacancy that just closed will put the most jr. captain probably around a fall 2011 hire. Once they get through the rest of 2011, the upgrade time will drop a year or 2 overnight basically. Only 6 guys left on the seniority list that were hired in 2012 and only 68 guys that were hired in 2013. There will be absolutely no problem getting into 2014 hires by later this year.

So it's right to say an upgrade time of less than 4 years? Not bad.
I am from the MIA-FLL area, will need to commute....any advice on that? Also, is upgrade quicker on some equipments?

With that being said, predicting upgrade time at date of hire is more art than science and has a lot of variables.
Thank you for your quick response

The plane you fly as an FO has no factor in upgrade time.

The plane/base you choose to upgrade into does. So you may wait a little bit longer to get DFW CA if you don't want to go to LGA or ORD.

Yes, I didn't think that this would ever be possible but by the end of the year upgrade time should be hovering around the 3 year mark. The 145 has the quickest upgrade time as of right now. Specifically, the 145 in LGA. That's how things look right now. Of course, in this game things change very quickly.

The remainder of the aircraft might carry us to 130 ish lines. Someone getting hired today will not see a line on the E75 until summer 2018 at the earliest. If additional aircraft or bases are added into the mix then things will change, but as long as 40 E75 operate out of DFW the people hired today will not see a line for a while. On the other hand the E45 in NY will see the fastest movement, new hires are being sent there and many will look to bid the E45 elsewhere when able, the top E45 FO can hold upgrade and many bid the FO position to transfer quickly and will likely be awarded an upgrade later today. NY E45 could see 50+ FO transfer or upgrade on paper later today.
I will agree with this. I always knew this scenario would happen I just didn't realize the time was upon us.

Prelim is coming out shortly. Most JR CA is a 12NOV12 hire. Upgrade is now 4 years at Envoy, and should be at 3 years by the next vacancy. Only 68 2013 hires left.
