You’ll also find that many months you’ll only actually get 50 or 60 hours of flight time after cancellations, blocking in early, misconnects etc.

Not always, but often.

Expect around 18 months to make captain, if you come in with no previous time and you fly every possible day you're allowed.
Good info. However I'd suggest you go to LGA if you are trying to upgrade as fast as possible. I know you would credit more in LGA but I don't know how much you would block due to cancellations. Anyone have any information?

Guys/gals from my new hire class that went to lga are upgrading before the rest of us, mainly because they held lines right away vs 3-4 months reserve.

No idea how long it takes to hold a line currently though.

When I was an FO at LGA (late-ish 2016 new hire) I averaged about 80 hours of actual flight time each month, credit much more than that.

That was working a bunch of overtime and having a line pretty much right away.

Not that I am someone who cries wolf, but recently had a experience of a fellow co-worker who expressed some strong political views (which is fine, it's their own opinion). However they continued to talk poorly about certain demographics of people, which is where I draw the line... I don't care if you express your political views, but the moment you start tearing down "the other side" it just isn't work place appropriate to me... not that I'm a whistle blower, but I feel for the good of other fellow co-workers I should notify someone about this. Anyone have some insight as to how to go about this?

If it’s a fellow pilot then I would recommend pro standards. Keep it in house as much as possible.

Did you say something at the time? While I agree there are certain things inappropriate for the workplace, the first step in handling something at the lowest level is to SAY SOMETHING to the person involved to stop the conversation.

Agreed, but I haven't been in the civilian flying world before. Do you guys run to tell mom and dad whenever your buddy does something you don't like?
