FDX - Anyone with Hahn gouge??
 

I have a 48 hour layover in Hahn by myself this month and have always stayed in Mainz before. Anyone with Hanh info (best food/drinks, what to do)?

where do you stay? Our hotel is in Morbach and its the same place that [another cargo outfit] stays. There is not a whole lot to do in that particular town, but I'm usually on a little bit smaller budget than a FDX pilot! The night life is very quiet in Morbach but the bar at the hotel is very nice and the food is good. I've never seen any Fedex pilots, though. Try to stay in Mainz if you have a choice.

We stay at the Jugendstilhotel Bellevue in Traben-Trarbach!

It's a better layover during summer but still won't be bad. There's a glider port up on the hill behind the hotel with a bar/restaurant. Not sure what the activity level would be there this time of year. Boat tours available from launching piers in front of the hotel. Lots of restuarants - almost impossible to go wrong with the numerous gasthaus/bars. Several wine makers have establishments behind the hotel to the right. You can probably arrange a wine probe very easily.

The village has the two names because it's split by the mosel river. Traben on one side, Trarbach on the other. The bridge to the other side is close to the hotel. At the very least, you'll be able to relax and rest, find a good place to eat and grab a Bitburger. Have fun.

Dress warm...I'm in Hahn right now and its a wee bit chilly out there! Huge low pressure system sitting over Europe and it feels like its gonna start snowing any second. QNH was 28.77 coming in!
