Haven't done it in awhile but there are a couple of options. I took a sleeper from Bercy station in Paris, very close to one of FDX layover hotels. It left Paris later in evening and arrived MXP Central Station, also very close to FDX layover hotel, morning next day. This was an Italian train and went through Switzerland, a little loud through the Alps. It's 2 bunks per room and is a little awkward with a stranger, ideal with family or friend. The French train I took from MXP arrived Gare de Lyon but might depart from Paris Est...can't remember. First class is very civilized...about 7 hours.

I'm sending this out again. Anyone done Paris to MXP on the train lately? Anyone got the gouge? Seems like it might be a better day than the AF ride.

Do it. Just do it. Drink some wine, eat in the dining car, and enjoy the view. I did the slllllllooooowwww train from Frankfurt to Milan 4 or 5 years back. I have forgotten many FedEx trips since, but that one was nice.
