ASA vacancy bid

How bad is the new vacancy bid at ASA? Down grades? Many displacements?

A friend of mine, 19-year guy getting bumped off the right seat on the CRJ. If that tells you anything.

Are you saying that a 19 year FO is getting displaced? Where did he get displaced to?

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. He was in the left seat but got bumped off of it earlier this year. He was offered the ERJ out of Houston.

Then he messed up his bid. He can hold CPT, though not in ATL.

I wonder how many will transition to the UAL side? My guess is about 30% or so.

Does your bid show how many vacancies there are on the ERJ?

That would be mine as well.

Only if he screwed up his bid.

Crucero 10-13-2017 07:40 PM

Are CRJ guys being offered ERJ captain slots in IAH? I know of FOs who bid IAH cap on the last system bid and didn't get it. So if they all of a sudden offer it, then the ERJ side got screwed again.

We can only bid on captain if there is a vacancy. We can not displace anyone. Since there are not any ERJ captain vacancies right now, we are only being offered ERJ FO slots.

I was told only for the short term, the fence was put in place to keep people from bidding crj since it was going away. But who knows it's changes by the day, I'm thanking enough people are leaving on both sides it won't be an issue.

Yeah, I think it's getting ready to be a mute point. When you have 18+ year captains making lateral moves to other regionals you know the ship is sinking. Management is just twiddling their thumbs watching it.

OO is watching, and counting their 175's that should have come our way. SKW checklist:
- Takeover XJT *
- Screw up XJT relationship with UA *
- Use pilot revolt to take over flying and new airplanes *
- Use every excuse possible to wind down union side of business. (in work)
You bet management is watching... watching all their shinny new 175s that we'll never see. Wonder where all those Mitsubishi's are now? (hint, going to republic).

I don't think the Mystery Jet will ever see use in the US. At least not in the near future.
Much of the problems with UAL are their own doing. They have always treated the regionals like second-class citizens, more so than other majors. I think they tried to be cute just a little too long and will soon see 145's being parked for a lack of pilots. Why would anyone want to work for a UAL feeder?

Actually, we were not nearly so second class as we are now. Before the United merger, we were treated much much better as the only Coex carrier.

I'm aware of that. I was talking about UAL, not CAL. CAL no longer exists.

But I bet you still say ASA when you refer to your employer. 🤔

Nope. ExpressJet.

In this scenario, I am referring to UAL and their history. Personally, I don't think UAL has figured out their regional feed and is on the verge of seeing a bunch of 145's parked due to a lack of pilots. They are still treating the regionals like it's 2010 and you can find a qualified pilot in any gutter to fill a seat.

I believe we're all about to see if United figured it out... #spoileralert

Maybe, maybe not. I've been hearing that one for years so I'm not holding my breath. I'll give it to January, then I'm bailing. Every day they wait more LASA pilots hop over to their competition, either AAL (Envoy and PSA), or DAL (Endeavor). I'd venture to guess that few, if any of our attrition has been to UAL feeders, except maybe Inc who is in bed with everyone.

you posted in a thread on 8-04-2007 that you had already left ASA. Are you still there?
