Nothing since the last union call in. Attrition is still high. I’m sure it has “slowed”, but as a percentage probably the same. People who thought they would retire here are looking for options.
At some point the rumors won’t matter as we will reach a tipping point of unsustainability, at least on the CRJ side. And not even an attempt to recruit which speaks volumes.

I heard the CRJ is down to about 400 active pilots, any truth to that?

According to my math about 465 doing flying in April, but that number includes some who are out the door.

What happens to the office staff in ATL? I have a friend in MX that left in JAN or Feb. Skywest should be tarred and feathered.

If they are not already gone they are cleaning out their offices or at least they were the last time I was there. The A-Tech is pretty much empty. The hanger portion has been taken over by DAL. It’s like a ghost town and very depressing. Those are the people I really feel for. The pilots can all get jobs. The support personnel, not so much. It’s pretty much what I told the pilots who advocated for burning it down it would be. The little people were hurt the most.
I avoid the crew lounge in concourse C. No reason to depress myself unnecessarily.
But it’s a lesson to all the other non wholly owned regionals right now. Don’t assume you can’t be Comaired.

Silly question but seems like all the other regionals junior captains are 2014, 2015 hire dates. Why is Express Jet so much longer to upgrade ? Do guys "love it" and therefore stay, is a lack of fleet growth happening , etc ?

thank you

You and I both know they were, but that was a different time. Now DAL and AAL seem to be keeping most of their flying in house. Everyone else is at their mercy.

It's called "downsizing" on the CRJ side. Many are trying to move on.
