Why does everybody on here feel the need to give their unsolicited advice when every effing pilot at this company knows what’s going on. Tired of reading the same stuff over and over “ The sky is falling, get out as soon as you can, or you don’t deserve a family because I know better than you, etc. blah, blah , blah....”
You aren’t nearly as smart as you, think you are, and the guys staying aren’t basing their life decisions on your guidance, so shut up about it and find something else to contribute.

I guess some people are slow learners. You should have learned from the guys that moved on post 9-11 then the music stopped. You should have noticed your former FO's are now at legacies and elsewhere in the left seat with better QOL and way more income than is possible at a regional. The industry is cyclical. The music will stop eventually. I'd rather be anywhere else than a FFD regional that is only a contract away from closing their doors. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. Good luck. You'll need it.

All senior captains are reliving 2001 and/or 2008 whenever they post. They had to fly right seat in a Saab for 5 years and push the plane back themselves, by hand, uphill.

Grass isnt always greener. Ask those pre and "post 9-11" new hires that ended up being out of a job up until recently.

For the record. All the guys that want out are not out. I will settle for a lateral move when the doors close. Until then I will continue working on the Legacies.

For the guys on here knocking F9 don’t kid yourself. I was at ASA 9 years and only had 500 guys junior to me. I’ve been at F9 just under 2 years and already have the same. Yes it sucks having to pay for your own housing in new hire training but most guys use crashpads not hotels so it’s only about $250 a month. Not to mention it allows guys to study together. A new contract is coming but even with our current pay rates we have 12 year Capts making 200k a year. I make more on second year pay than I did on 9 year pay at XJT and have a better quality of life. There’s absolutely zero logic for even considering going to another regional over F9. We have over 200 airplanes on order; confirmed might I add. These are all scheduled to be on property within the next 6 years. I realize until they’re actually on property nothing is guaranteed, but that alone is already putting pressure on management to negotiate in order to staff them. What positive news has come from XJT? Growth? New routes? New contract? What am I missing? I’m not a recruiter for F9 I just hate seeing a good group of guys like XJT sell themselves short by only looking at first year pay. And one last thing, for the guys worried about an economic downturn. Frontier has the lowest operating cost among all domestic carriers, our CASM is sub 6. We are far better suited to weather a downturn than any legacy. Good luck to all of you guys. Hope you all make it out soon.

I’m looking at year 1-5 pay. That’s how long it takes to even get close to breaking even. It might make sense for FOs to look at Frontier, but a CA who doesn’t live in Denver just can’t make it work at those rates.

Depending on how long you have left that might make sense. But year 1-5 won’t be what it is now by the time you get here. I get it when Capt’s want to finish out their careers at XJT. However, if you have to leave, choosing another regional over any LCC or ULCC would be foolish. You would be starting over on pay anyway and subjecting yourself to the same bidding war for routes that led to the current situation with ASA. F9 makes one of the highest profit margins in the country and can afford to pay industry average wages. They will continue to make that profit with every new NEO we take delivery of as they burn 15% less fuel. All regionals, even the wholly owns have a ceiling in what they can afford to pay. As XJT is well aware, it’s possible to bid yourself out of a job. Get out of the whipsaw. Not saying you have to come here to F9, but look at all ULCC’s. F9 currently has 4 bases DEN, MCO, ORD, LAS and you could hold any in less than a year.

$45,000 signing bonus and Year 1 Captain pay out of the gate at an American regional is hardly starting over. It is a cut, but not as bad as F9.
