The Inc. Prnewswire release shows XJT is losing an average of 40% net pilots year over year. Even the XJT UAX side is losing 28% year over year (which means that the DL and AA side is losing greater than 40% per year). I would guess UAX flying is shut down in 2020 with that pilot loss.

Inc is also not putting any real effort into hiring on the ExpressJet side. I mean if someone shows up they are hired, but that’s about it. Even the road shows we do are funded by UAL I believe.
UAL is capped out with 70/76 seaters from a scope perspective. In fact, UAL is 2 over on 70/76 seaters and their union is going to arbitration over it. So, the 145 flying won’t be transferring to additional 700/900’s or Ejets. |

That's interesting, I've been getting my hopes up for YX to start picking up some flying from EV with the new IAH base. But if that's the case they'll have to do it with the existing 170s.

This morning I noticed that Expressjet is gone from this city pair, and now there's 4 Mesa flights to/from and one mainline United (B737).

Existing 170’s don’t qualify. They are not 50 seaters.

For a particular city pair that I frequent, since at least the beginning of this year Expressjet (E135) has operated about 5 flights a day to/from, and Mesa (E175) has operated one each way per day. Republic has occasionally been picking up some of those flights too.
This morning I noticed that Expressjet is gone from this city pair, and now there's 4 Mesa flights to/from and one mainline United (B737). It seems that E135 flying has been replaced by E175 and B737. The flight schedule is like this for at least the next several days. 1-C-1-a-(2)-(c) Up to a total of 255 76-Seat Aircraft plus 70-Seat Aircraft (“76/70- Seat Aircraft”), of which up to 130 may be 76-Seat Aircraft, and then, on or after January 1, 2016, up to 153 76-Seat Aircraft. Some 50 seat flying has been replaced over the past 18 months with 70/76 flying per United’s agreement to increase the number of 175’s. Also, during the summer, there is higher passenger counts on routes and that ends up justifying the larger aircraft. When the summer is over and passenger counts drop, these routes will return to the 50 seaters. |
