Lifers, lack of new hires, and a reduction of aircraft over the past decade. A few of the lifers have been leaving, hiring numbers are much better, and the fleet count is finally building back up.

Was just wondering why, when all of the other regionals upgrade times are 1-3 years, XJT was 7 or more. Makes you ask W.T.F.?
This is killing their recruiting efforts.

Other regionals weren’t owned by SkyWest who was trying to shrink them into nonexistence for a decade. They’re finally out of the picture, and the company is growing again under United-led ownership.

Unfortunately with a 1-2 year upgrade we are looking at pilots with 2500-3000 hours. In many cases this is not a broad band of experience and not much TPIC. That is why worries me. Especially if we are looking at pilots with multiple training failures.

Y'all must have a ton of FO's with more than enough time to upgrade if upgrade times have been several years for a while?
