“SECTION 28 DURATION
This Agreement shall become effective on October 1, 2018 and continue in full force and effect until September 30, 2021 and shall renew itself without change until each succeeding October 1, 2018 thereafter, unless one of the enumerated contingencies, below, occur or unless written notice of intended change is served in accordance with Section 6, Title I of the Railway Labor Act, as amended, by either party hereto at least 30 days but not more than 90 days prior to January 1, 2021, or any January 1 thereafter.
This Agreement was entered into by the Parties in reliance on certain key business events occurring. Therefore, the Parties agree that the following events alter the duration of this Agreement as follows:
As stated in Letter 1 to this Agreement, United Airlines has guaranteed to award delivery of a minimum of 20 EMB175s to ExpressJet which shall be operated under this Agreement. Deliveries of the aircraft will begin in the second quarter of 2019. Should United Airlines not award the EMB175s to ExpressJet following ratification of this Agreement, the Parties will immediately re-enter Section 6 negotiations.
If SkyWest Holdings, Inc. is still a majority owner of ExpressJet Airlines at the end of Jan 2019, the Parties will immediately re-enter Section 6 negotiations.”

No one has seen or knows anything... XJT pilots are in survival mode. I get it, Been there.. Is it a industry leading contract that XJT has been know for... no.. Is it concessionary... no.. but its the best they will do in there circumstance... any promises of Buyouts is just a carrot. Things change daily on that...

Then we take our raise and go back into Section 6 negotiations. Nothing lost.

I’m a no vote if the numbers aren’t right regardless of what it means for the company (and my job).
I'am not sure what your saying, in 2013 Endeavor voted in concessions to be bought buy Delta, it included a 12 year CA pay cap and a 4 year FO pay cap, it also included a Special Selection Process for jobs at Delta. In 2014 hundreds bailed out for other company's and a large bonus structure was implemented and later converted to industry leading rates.

It's pretty clear United wants some hard numbers to crunch if they're going to buy your company.

It is disingenuous if you feel like your "portable" in the job market right now, and think everyone who isn't, for any reason, should agree with you because you are.

Nearly the exact thing happened to Envoy a few years back. Very top heavy at first. AA shrunk it down and closed almost all the bases but 2. Gave them an ultimatum and they caved. Management plays chess while we play tick tack toe. Same will happen here.

The only way to change the game is to change the structure of ALPA. Where they become like any other union of electricians, plumbers, steamfitters etc. Union in those industries control their labor and send manpower to each company. The unions provide benefits to the members directly of which the companies pay a designated amount for a benefit fund. They have business agents which negotiate terms with the companies and sign ironclad contracts. It’s a much better arrangement.

And best of all, if you run a job non-union in a union area, you end up in the trunk of a car. At least where I come from.

To me, It may be a tad better to be away from Skywest, but Ual only owns a small minority stake of CommutAir
What will shooting this down get us?

Any chance of the 175s is gone. No pay raises at all. No fleet renewal, all the while the 50 seaters continue to die. And a huge pay cut for the ASA guys.

There’s zero benefit to shooting this down. If you think company will go back to the negotiating table, I’ve got another bridge to sell.....

Since just prior to August 16th, probably a week or so prior. That’s my best guesstimate based on internal comms.
