TYS Base for 2019

Just announced on the FB page. What are your thoughts?

da42pilot 11-30-2018 06:23 PM

It was announced a while back. People have already been awarded TYS as a base.

I think it’s great. They want to try 4-hour call outs for short call reserve, which would also be great.

Not sure how a four-hour call-out would help. You still could wind up with 10 hrs rest in between assignments. I guess maybe for the first call of your week, but after that?

Considering the most junior guy there is right at 14 years seniority, I can't see why it would matter to anyone new. Hate sounding like "that guy". Just a negative regional pilot. The company should be focusing on actual things that they can control to attract and retain new hires rather than advertising things that are irrelevant.

A lot of the negativity on this forum steers then away TBH. Not that I don’t agree with you.

Lol, the negativity on this forum regarding XJT is nothing compared to the line. During the last 4-5 years I’ve not met one line pilot (seniority over a couple of years) that had anything good to say and wasn’t on their way out. Some brand new guys have a fresh sense of tolerance but realize at a point that it’s a one way road at XJT.

While we are a good group, yes, this is correct. Those that were once "lifers" are weighing their options. Everyone is holding their breath right now in anticipation of possible announcements that are supposedly coming in January. IF we reach the contingency dates and no announcements are made, or if the company asks for more time, XJT is over.

There's too many of us that have been crapped on not only by XJT "Management", but more so Skywest, Inc. Getting out from under Inc is the ONLY way XJT survives. Airplanes or not, who cares. Only a few snot nose brats straight out of flight school would snub their noses at a quick upgrade on a 145 or 200. Sure, would we like 175's? Yeah. I'd rather them be flown at mainline with mainline wages and work rules and not flwon by the cheapest B Scale bidder.

So, getting in at XJT right now MIGHT be a good thing. You could be on the front of a HUGE wave of hiring. Or, worst case scenario, you get good training, a type, and on to somewhere else. No harm, no foul.

As far as the pilot group goes, yeah, we are ****ed, but this is one of the best pilot groups around. We may be upset at the current trajectory of the company, but these are some of the best pilots you could possibly ask to work with.

99% of the negativity you see on here is from the original ASA side of the operation. (rightfully so) The ERJ side does not have near the same amount of negativity it appears. Though things are not great right now for the operation, if all comes together as we are being told then a new hire is getting on at a "great" time!! We should all know something here very soon..

Eh.....I disagree. Some of the most CONSTANT negative posters are ERJ dudes and former employees who moved on. There is enough negativity to go around, but the most extreme cases seem to be ERJ guys.

I think by far the ERJ folks are much less bitter. The general consensus I see is most are just frustrated with the lack of progress and growth. Big difference between frustration and bitter. I'm not talking just about on here but out on the line. The few that post on here don't really represent the entire pilot group!
