Recurrent is train to proficiency.
That's why I tried to emphasize that this was a general description. Still, under the old system of checkrides it was one strike and you're out.

Yeah. There are variations, but they are all invariably better than the old school version

Very straightforward if you’re instrument current.

The company positive spaces you to Houston, puts you up in the Sheraton right next to the airport, and the interview is at 8am the next morning.

Awesome, thanks

Is the ATPCTP 10 straight days, or are the weekend days “off”?

Also, when I interviewed they said the ATP CtP would be in Atlanta, now it’s scheduled for Houston. Anyone know why? Are the using different contractors?

Finally, is anyone reading this currently in an ATP CTP class for XJT? How full is it?

They typically alternate between IAH and ATL for CTP based on sim availability and other factors. It's probably better to do it in IAH since they will be ERJ sims. A little extra time to become familiar with the plane you'll be trained on doesn't hurt. ATL would be CRJ sims.

Thanks.

Another thing I was wondering about is the length of the CTP. It’s 10 days, aren’t most programs a week? CommutAirs is 5 days total. When I asked the recruiter there about theirs is so much shorter, he said that it should only take 5 days or less and anyone doing it for longer is doing so they can charge more money. I believe theirs are contracted to FSI or FTI.

I’ve never heard of one that’s only 5 days long. Maybe 5 days of ground, not including sims? That’s possible.

That’s kind of a silly assertion from their recruiter. The ATP-CTP training curriculum requires 30 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of simulator training. That works out to nearly 8 hours of class time for 4 days. I highly doubt that CommutAir’s program then sticks people in the sim for 10 hours on the 5th day but if they did, Godspeed to them.

ExpressJet doesn’t contract it out. It’s ExpressJet instructors and ExpressJet sims.

Just curious how the school house is like? Are they quality instructors,is the training good, things like that. They came to do a campus visit and they were hyping up the training department. Curious if the training department is as they made it seem

The training here is excellent. Among the best in the industry.
