Training Dress Code
Hey -- what is the expected dress during training? Is it ok to wear jeans or do they expect something less casual?
|
Most places require business casual, which usually means dockers/slacks and a collar of some sort. Generally no jeans or tee shirts. In the real world business casual means non-athletic shoes but you can probably get away with sneakers at a regional.
For checkride day plan on slacks, belt, leather shoesbutton-down shirt, and tie unless they tell you otherwise. Ie a suit minus the jacket. |
I wouldn’t wear jeans. Go with slacks or chinos, decent shoes (not sneakers), and a long sleeve button-down shirt.

At Xjt jeans were accepted in training. Just needed a collared shirt.

This is the part I don’t understand : you’ve chosen a career path where you have to wear a uniform for the next 40(?) years.
Training is not your time it’s company time. So dress like you appreciate the opportunity. Tell you what, you can wear whatever you want when you’re at home doing your CBT’s. |
Do as the instructors. Most roll up wearing jeans and a button down or polo.

Nice jeans and a collared shirt. I’d wear nice slacks and a button down the first couple of days though. There’s a lot of pictures.
They even come out and tell you jeans are fine. |
Instructors almost all wear jeans and untucked polo. Students are ok to wear the same.
Bring a coat and tie for your oral if getting your ATP here. |
Beyond the first day I never wore anything other than jeans and either a button down (with the rolled sleeves) or a polo. Even the orals and checkrides were the same. Not a formal environment by my observations.
