Default CRJ display/cooling system failure on 4390?

Making the news cycle this morning . . . this article on Fox News even has the flight diverting to Houston (it actually diverted to DFW).

Seems to me that professional journalism is dead and buried in our news media

What’s unprofessional about it?
They had to dumb it down for the average layperson.
Cooling fan failure -> nearest suitable airport

Anything aviation/airline related is a hot buzzword in the media right now. Before the 2 Max crashes this wouldn’t even have made third tier aviation news websites...

I think the moral of this story is keep your announcements low key— before one of them goes viral.

Professional “journalism” doesn’t exist in the mainstream media, it’s professional “reporting.”

The only reason this made the news is because of the stupidity of the pilot on the PA. Totally unprofessional. “We had to divert due to a mechanical issue” is all that needed to be said. But, now you have a viral video and passengers texting their loved ones about how they almost died because the pilot is blind...

Far from it. You don’t ever give passengers that much detailed critical information for obvious reasons. You keep things short and general. I highly doubt ExpressJet recommends what this guy did. United has trained CSR’s to handle these situations with passengers.
