Oh I wasn’t ‘lecturing’ or thought you thought you were ‘better’ than any said airline. Again, was just giving my opinion. 🤙

I don’t work for other airlines. I have however worked in other industries. It is very common practice for an employer to take steps to prevent employees from abusing sick leave. However some employers combine sick and personal leave. The deal is you know what you are signing up for going in. If you want a job where your sick leave is rolled in with personal leave that’s the job you apply for. It’s pretty simple really.

"personal leave" aka vacation time that you earn. This is paid time off or personal reasons.

Sick leave is what it sounds like.

However, The company could pay back a portion of sick leave upon retirement or separation, to inventivise proper use of this time.

In the past, pilots could inventivise a strategery and then just get a sick note for truthiness.

Seems like not so much anymore...

Back to the topic at hand.....there’s a VAST difference between “how things should be” and “how they are”. Previous posters are 100% correct when they say that UAL is not your employer, and being denied the CPP because you bang in sick too much isn’t a punishment BY YOUR EMPLOYER. That’s not to say it’s fair.....but clearly it never was to begin with.

After 12 months, all sick calls and unfavorable pilot records will be discharged, according to the ALPA contract. United should not see any negative records after a 12 month period. Is this correct?

I'd go with the assumption that they can pretty much see everything. So try and stay healthy......especially around holidays, vacations, and training events!
