Well I have been here for 20 years and that is what I am being told from the CPP administration.
The powers that be don’t really want to talk about it.

1. I personally know a couple XJT that had June interviews that were non new hires, first attempt.
2. They are still hiring people in the pool as long as the requirements are met.
3. Yes there have been murmurs that changes are coming which is why the second attempt Hogan’s have not gone out. United knows if most people here with seniority of 3-15 years do not get through the second attempt they will be applying other places and our already poor staffing will be much worse.
4. Staffing is the #1 leverage point we have if they want new hires to come there will have to be one or more improvements of pay, CPP improvement/ flow, QOL. Those things will come in due time to be able to keep the doors open. They didn’t give us brand new 175’s and a sim to send them to SkyWest in a year let’s be honest.

I don’t have a dog in this fight, but I will say that just because requirements are checked off doesn’t mean the person is desired once they’re actually interviewed. Sat in an ExpressJet jumpseat this summer that had a captain who had been hired in the early 2000’s, and after that experience, there is no way I would want him sitting next to me on a trip. He met all of the requirements, I’m quite sure.

I was actually talking about people who have passed the hogan, passed the interview, and met all other requirements outlined by United in the CPP agreement. I'm not saying United should take everyone. I completely understand and agree that they should have the ability to hire exactly who they want to hire. I'm just saying that the above scenario has happened to about 10-20 applicants without any explanation at all.

I’m sure there was a reason it just wasn’t outlined in the CPP process. I’ve heard things like too many sick calls, call out before or during training events, over holidays, extending vacation. Passing on upgrades while in the CPP pool. People interviewing off the street while in the CPP pool and then getting rejected and getting the CPP offer pulled. United has a right to be picky.

Ask ALPO or even JC. There are 10-20 that met ALL requirements outlined in the CPP agreement. And by meeting ALL requirements, I'm including those things listed above as far as unexcused absences over holidays, training events, vacation, etc. I agree United has a right to be picky, but it doesn't look good when they are putting people in the pool and then turning them down without any explanation when they don't have any of the disqualifiers outlined in the CPP agreement on their record.
