E175 Training Program

Out of curiosity hows the training program for the new fleet type going? Progress on AQP? Training footprint? etc. Would be interesting to hear from someone in training and/or an actual instructor. Thought this would be a good topic to start for those preparing to come on board and those of us on the outside just looking in.

It’s my understanding now that 175 training is non-AQP. I’ve asked around as I’d like to transition over to the 175 and they are working on AQP and hopefully it should be implemented around September or October. Now, that’s just something I’ve heard when asking people. That’s not a concrete timeline.

From what I’ve heard, the AQP for the 175 will be for transition first and the new hire AQP probably won’t be in place until later in 2020.

Right now systems is taught at Flight Safety in STL. They also split sims just about 50/50 between STL and our sim in IAH. If you sim in STL, training will be with Flight Safety instructors but still company check airman for oral and checkride. In IAH it is ExpressJet instructors for everything. But I was also told by FS that they might be sending an instructor to help with the load down in Houston. I started in July and an scheduled for my checkride in Oct just to give you a rough timeline.

My class went through the 175 program in 5-7 weeks, and it was mostly filled with new hires. The program was pretty good for being put together so quickly. I would not be afraid of the non AQP aspect. The instructors are really good and it's easy as pie to learn. It was my first jet and a lot of people in my class' first jet, and everyone made it through just fine.
