Just curious... what is something everyone forgets to bring along.

Hangars and a laundry bag. You won’t be doing laundry at the hotel all the time but if you can fit those in your bag it would be helpful

I know it’s nice to have a car, but do you need it? Can you walk anywhere from the hotel?

Houston (all of Texas for that matter) isn't a pedestrian friendly environment. The closest thing with in walking distance of the hotels is a little strip mall with a pizza place and Hoots saloon. There is a Gas station, Jack n the box, and Taco bell too but its not the best fast food. Most of the good stuff is northeast of the airport by over by the mall. If you can bring a car, bring it, there is a bunch of downtime in the training schedule.

Think 100 degrees in the shade... except no shade, and humidity striving for triple digits and almost making it there.

Enjoy your time while in training
great staff at the training center. Plenty of help if you need it. FMS labs are available when class is not in session.
Everything you need to pass your training will
be provided to you;

Depending on the hotel you stay at, they typically do a Walmart/HEB grocery run at least once a week. Sheraton does not do this(only for United mainline pilots)
The training center has catering for lunch ;chick fil a , bbq, and some other joint. Bring cash on hand. Expect to pay $8-12 on the meal.

What about ATM's : any near the Sheraton?

We tend to put our New Hire in the Sheraton at:
15700 John F Kennedy Blvd, Houston, TX 77032

usually between 8 and 20 per class .

The new hires for the past month have been at the holiday inn at 15222 jfk boulevard. Not sure about atms although the hotel van would take you if needed.

Runaway as fast as possible. Bad news coming. This is not the place to come.

The new hires almost never get the Sheraton. They are split between the lower end hotels. They were using the LaQuinta when I went through in the beginning f 19. Then some went to the Holiday Inn. Only crews on the line usually get the Sheraton.

I wouldn’t dismiss out of hand any rumors good or bad about what may be forthcoming...

Have not heard that. Last two classes had 8 and 7... If bad news comes it very well could go down to 3 per class.

If bad news...your really buying into old ASA gaslighting aren’t you.

No bad news coming. Everything on this forum is over dramatized. Relax and enjoy class. Every regional is constantly changing. Just have to focus on the flying and don’t let the negativity of some get you down. It’s not all that bad here. Lots of pilots here for 15+ years by choice. There is a contract but it’s not contracted employment.

One thing the XJT has been really good at is hiring people who are good to fly with. The ground and flight instructors know their stuff, and they want you to learn it.
