Furloughs

Is there a reference for that? Company puts them on the seniority list on first day of Indoc.

You are on the books as a pilot trainee until you pass your line check. Then your upgraded to FO. The reference is your CJO you signed on the first day of Indoc. The CJO is contingent upon completing training, that would be IOE.

It's not that I didn't expect a furlough, I just thought it wouldn't come til October 1, an assumption I think many of us had. I hope you don't find yourself in the same situation after all this plays out.

In any case, the company is saving a lot of money by furloughing trainees. We were meant to get the second half of our new hire bonus upon completion of IOE according to our contract with the company, so 112 x $12,000 = $1,344,000 in savings. Cheaper for them to cut their losses it seems

I'm just grateful to have my ATP and type rating. Among those furloughed, there were some that were just days or weeks from their checkride, so they just lost months of time and effort with nothing concrete to show for it

I had finished LOE, but not IOE, and I was furloughed. I suppose I should be grateful for the paid ATP and type rating, but still a pretty big bummer. The lack of any sort of notice also sucks

Sorry about that, I guess things changed since I was a new hire at Xjt. I am staring a furlough in the face at UA. If I am furloughed it will be my second furlough. Don’t let it get you down. You didn’t do anything wrong, there’s no QRH to run.

I can read the tea leaves just fine, and I'm sure you can too, but a noob may not have that much SA on the industry and may have been expecting a job until 01 Oct.

There are several potential loopholes to CARES payroll protections, this is one of them, as well as downgrades conducted in accordance with the contract.

Guys don’t feed this former SkyWest troll. He knows everything airlines and is on each and every carriers board embarking his vast wisdom
from high upon Mount St. Pious.

He also confidently said the coronavirus wouldn’t be a problem here in the US. He was called out on it and he backtracked, claiming it isn’t his job to predict pandemics. It’s apparently only his job to drop his unsolicited opinion on every corner of this forum, at all hours of the day.

A few years ago when I was asking for advice about starting flight training, he told me I would have a “hard time” and probably wouldn’t make it in this industry. I pressed on and ended up making it to a major after a couple of years.

I’ve learned to just scroll past his posts.

Since he's a Moderator, he gets away with trolling that would get others banned. Now watch me get banned for insulting His Holiness in 3, 2, 1…

Sorry to hear about the furloughs over there.

There’s a sign on the TV in the lunchroom in the training center that Dish TV service has been suspended in order to cut costs. If they are going out of the way to cancel $50/mo TV service, I have a feeling the fun is just beginning.

It looked perrty clear no one would be furloughed. They must have convinced the government that its cash grants could serve the airspace and flying public longer if they furloughed non-qualified pilots.
