20-08 Bid

Looks like the bid just dropped. Most junior CA a March 2004 hire. YIKES!

Well it was nice working with some of you people, we had a good run.

How many CA's were displaced to FO?

Whats the seniority number of the most junior CA? I'm doing some stats/graphs for each airline.

The most junior CA now is about 800 a 2/2016 hire and going to 342 a 3/2004 hire.

Are there PWOPS (pilot without position, what we called them during the last furlough in 2008)?

Thanks. The %'s seem to be similar to Air Wisconsins. Has ExpressJet released a long-term fleet plan?

My understanding is the target is 40 A/C as of 01 OCT.

HotDogSonicBoom 06-01-2020 10:01 PM

Well... it’s been a good run for me! Super short, but a good one!

Seriously though, at least I’m lucky enough to have got my ATP out of this and fly a jet for a few months.

That was from the legacy ExpressJet side. The most junior CA going forward from legacy ASA is 341, a July 2000 hire.

happyfunbags 06-02-2020 05:12 AM

Man I'm starting to think at this point we'll be lucky to get furloughed as opposed to "ExpressJet will cease operations on..."

Glad to know you guys are over that by now.

Arliss 06-02-2020 05:55 AM

Truly devastating. I worked with so many great captains when I was there and seeing them screwed like this is painful to watch.:(

I tell people that this is a really cool job in an absolute garbage industry. Everything is rainbows and hotdogs until it all falls apart.

I'm way too new to care about all that old stuff. It just so happened that the most jr CA left standing was a legacy XJT guy and I was just pointing out that it was even worse - there are a lot of CA's displaced that were hired before 2004.

That makes sense. Sorry about that - I take it back.

Yeah we can’t shrink to Commutair size and be an operation this big, and this top heavy. Every captain will be maxed out on the pay scale. 4 weeks vaca, and highest 401k match.

Relative to last year, as a percentage, things have not been getting better https://www.tsa.gov/coronavirus/passenger-throughput

They have been getting better. Total throughput compared to last year is now in the 85% reduction range compared to the max loss of 96%.

For what it’s worth, I made the jump to Kalitta about a year and a half ago and I absolutely love it. I know other ACMI’s are hiring, and I highly recommend the plunge. We are not hiring at the moment, but rumors are a few classes this Fall.

I’m happy to help if anyone is interested, or answer any questions about the lifestyle. ACMI has got to be one of the easiest jobs on the planet!
