The Pool, for now...

The pool is right...for now. Training will probably pick up first quarter of next year. After that, its any one's guess. LAX/ONT have historically been the junior bases. CLE, EWR and IAH are all about even with lots of movement between the 3 of them. CLE is supposed to be picking up flying that EWR is losing due to Colon and the Q400s but both have been shrinking relative to IAH. Theres a good chance that whenever training picks up again, you'll be able to go just about anywhere you want right off the bat or within a couple of months. Hope it helps.

Thanks that will help

If it had been SAABaroowski there would have been no doubt in my mind as to what he meant, haha.

Right now, they're not holding any new hire classes until may/june from what I understand. People were sent to all of the bases from the classes held earlier this year. They're not sending all the new hires to any one particular base. During your class, they announce how many vacancies there are at each base, and you submit your request(s). Your base is awarded based on class seniority, which is determined by age. No one knows how things will be once they start hiring again, but based on what we've seen over the last year, your chances of ending up in CLE or EWR are equally good as LAX or ONT. Its not the end of the world however if you don't get what you want, becuase you can trade bases, or submit a perm bid for what you want. You likely will get what you want fairly fast.

Personally, I would like IAH if that's an option because it's close to home.

Now it's May or June?? I was originally told February, then found out through the grapevine April or Mayish. Eitherway, I'm chillin out here in the pool. I wish they would keep us new hires in the loop a little better though. I know we're not officially employees until after training, but perhaps they could send out a group e-mail to keep us in the loop.

You want to be kept in the loop about which rumors are floating around? April is the official company word on upgrade and/or new-hire classes, but "things may change soon".
