ExpressJet
I am a flight instructor at ABE and there are 2 ExpressJet EMBs at the fbo right now. I thought they stopped all of their branded flying. Any insight??

Charter flights
|
whats the difference then?
|
The branded was scheduled service. The charter is on demand. The big contracts are with college teams and NASCAR.
|
I believe they were doing regularly scheduled flights as expressjet in the branded aircraft and using them for charter flights. Now any flights using those aircraft are chartered aircraft. Not sure if they use them as spares ie RAH style or not.
|
Branded is scheduled service. Charter is on demand. They are using it just like a company would charter a GV, only for a lot more people - sports teams, large corporate groups etc.
|
I think the issue for the OP has probably been answered, any good news coming out of XJT? Any possibility of recalls for attrition, growth?? Or worse any further furloughs?? Don't hear to much about them on here about their current status.

No good news to report right now but no bad news. I don't think people are leaving and we have people comming back from leave but no talks of more furloughs. CAL will allow XJT to use charter a/c to cover CAL flights if there are no other options but 99% of the time we can only use the COEX A/C to cover the CAL flying. |

Ya sorry, wrong tense. I was kinda disappointed though when the branded went away. I was really hoping that would work out for them.

I was getting my private when 9/11 hit and I thought the same thing. When I graduate college there was absolutely zero hiring. As if overnight all that changed and airlines were hiring so fast you were wondering what was wrong if you weren't contacted within a week of submitting your resume. It's always gone in cycles. It will again. When it does just have your resume ready and plenty of contacts.

Right on! I think Southwest has the cheapest at $4. Anyone know of anything cheaper??
XJT branded flying was a great product, but there wasn't enough cash in the bank to let those markets mature. That and the fuel spike made it near impossible to keep it going. |
Bring Branded Back!
|
Yes, bring branded back.......it was a great operation while it lasted.
|
Here, here :D

Me too. It would erase the stain left by Independence Air and give the rest of us something to think about in the future.
The irony is, there's some former I-Air guys at XJT. |
