What to expect at Expressjet/ASA training???

Starting training at Expressjet/ASA on the 17th, woot! I am currently a flight instructor and this is my first jet job and I don't know a whole lot of what to expect at training. Anyone have any suggestions on what to prepare for and what to bring? Is there a dress code? Can I throw my 2011 FAR/AIM away yet? lol jk
Thanks

Airline Training dress code is Hawaiian Shirt, Flip Flops, and Buffett songs!

LOL

Professional dress, golf shirt/button down, slacks

Most new hires show up in uniform with a leather jacket and Ray-Ban aviators and refer to themselves as either Iceman, Maverick or Blue Leader. This guarantees success in training.

Either that or dress pants and maybe a tie on the first day.

Your employer should have the info you need in an orientation packet.

Show up ready to drink from a fully pressurized fire hose.

One more thing. When you go around the room introducing yourself, don't refer to yourself by your gang name.

This actually happened at a place I am familiar with. That pilot is, for some odd reason, no longer employed at the airline in question.

Memorize the flows if they gave them to you, and the memory items and limitations from CFM volume 1, before you get to IAH. The limitations are in the limitation section (duh), and the memory items are at the end of the orange tabs in the emergency section - they'll be big thick boxed items with names like "ENGINE FIRE SEVERE DAMAGE".

Otherwise, trust the process. Don't read ahead in systems (there's a ton of stuff in the CFM vol 2 you wont need to know, if you want to learn that stuff read it when you're out on the line), follow along in class then study at night to review what you learned.

For the FTD/Sims dont worry about the actual flying ahead of time, just be instrument proficient is about all you can do to prepare. BUT KNOW THE FLOWS BEFORE FTD 1. When you sit down on FTD 1 your life will be much easier if you can get through the flows on your own. Otherwise if you can fly a DME arc and enter a hold, you probably know everything else you need to know since you're coming from a CFI background.

Dress code is khakis or black pants and a collared shirt (either a button down or a polo shirt). Most people wore a tie for the oral and the PC in initial training, but none of us going through recall training did and no one cared.

Don't worry about studying regs ahead of time, they'll teach you the ones you need to know.

Slacks are not required at ASA.

Jeans with no holes are okay.

I didn't go through XJT/ASA training so I don't know exactly know what you should expect. But some advice I would give is when you start feeling like there isn't anyway you're going to get through all the material you need to know, and this will happen once or twice, remember that tons of stupider people made it through and are out flying the line. Then go have a beer, a bunch of us took our notecards to the bar and quizzed each other on memory items and limitations and had a good time doing it. Work and study hard but don't burn yourself out and you will be fine.

Never too soon to start working on a base trade.

Don't you need to be assigned to a base before you can trade it? ;)
