Brother if it was up to me it would be done. Unfortunately I don't see us with a JCBA this year and, I have a sneaky feeling the SLI is going to be ugly.

Talked to a friend in pilot recruiting yesterday. 3 classes in March and 1 in April so far. Should be at least 1, maybe 2, additional classes for April. Didn't thin k to ask how they pull them from the "pool".
Also found out that they may do away with the sim evaluation soon (possibly in March or April).
Good luck!!

Thanks to the Xjet guys for the class numbers!
Alright fellas, I've an update on the letter sent below. I now have an answer to why they are using this peculiar (total time based) approach of pulling candidates from a pool of successful interviewees. A few mentioned House Rule 5900, this was mentioned in the letter, that is cause of Xjet's current predicament with hiring (low time pilots).
Until recently, if you met the hiring mins and interviewed well, you got a class date. Now, IF you have interviewed well recently and IF you have under approx 1,000 hrs total time, you are going into a pilot pool. Pilots in this pool will remain there until Xjet figures out whether they can:
A: Get the FAA to grandfather you in (because you won't be at ATP mins by AUG2013)
OR
B: Have you quickly acquire the time on your own (hence keeping Airlineapps updated) and then they can feasibly put you into a class because MAYBE then you'll make it to 1500 hours if you fly your butt off between the completion of your training and AUG2013. Don't ask me what the magic number is to get plucked from the pool.
This following is purely speculation-
I highly doubt they'll invest money into training for new hires if they think that your qualification to fly for them will "pumpkin" at midnight on 01AUG2013.
I'm sure you guys can figure out that HR5900 doesn't discriminate between regional airlines so this problem is surely to become a hot topic at ALL regionals that are hiring. The FAA is pretty good about delaying programs, and since the FAA doesn't have an answer to where the regionals will be getting all these pilots with ATP mins after AUG2013, my best guess is that we'll see a grandfather rule first before the madness really hits.
That's all I've got for now, best of luck to all of you that received this letter.
"Congratulations! I am pleased to inform you that your interview was successful. You will be placed in our pilot pool for a period of six months with a conditional offer of employment as we wait for the drug screening results, fingerprint results and background check. If offered a class date, the conditional offer will be based on your successful completion of flight training. Continue to build your time and experience and update your application on Airline Applications as we select the most suitable applicant for classes from this pool.
The impact of HR 5900, and how it will effect Express Jet Airlines and all 121 airline hiring is still being determined. We do, however, know with certainty that the more qualified you are, the better your chances of being placed in a class in a timely manner."

Can those of you familiar with the airline apps site answer a question for me please. Is there any way to know if any of your target companies are even looking at your app on that site? I'm fairly new to that site. I have XJT listed as a target airline and hoping to get on during this years hiring.
Also, do you guys think 620 / 110 ME would make my app a viable one (just how strick is the 700)? I also have an internal rec from a friend there (Capt.) I flew with in the AF. Hoping they take into consideration I can get my ATP at 1000 using some of my FE time. Thanks for your opinions...

Im sorry to sound that way but its frustrating sometimes. Im about to be 30 in a month, not sure if thats young but i guess, served in military as a CH-47 crew chief in 3 deployments in order to pay my way thru flight training without accumulating too much debt. Im just a lil ticked all that hard work and it really comes down to a numbers game. Its hard seeing other people my age already established in their careers and I feel like Im still chasing a dream. Im in no position to say I can handle a RJ, far from it, but I am ready to learn. Again I apologize that I sounded like an ass, I just needed to vent a little. I think everyone is "entitled" to that!

I understand your frustrations. It will be the first of many as you navigate this messed up career. 30 is definitely young enough to have a long successful career. There are many who would kill to be able to be 30 again the way the industry seems to be turning around. You're going to meet guys at majors by 30 and you'll meet guys almost twice your age just starting out. Everyone's path is different. You'll get your chance. The first 100 hours of multi is always the most difficult to accumulate and most don't learn much while gaining that experience. As backwards as that is it's how we measure ourselves as professionals. While your extensive life experience should factor in to your resume, its just numbers and contacts that get you the interview. Who you are as a person will show through in an interview. You just have to play the game. Good luck.

You should qualify for post 9/11 benefits, and if you do you should have no problem gaining additional ME time, unless you already have all your tickets (CFI, CFII, MEI, ATP, ect...) I only had about 70 multi when I started using Ch 33, now I'm at 110 and climbing with my CFI and CFII. Just find a flight school that's associated with a college and take a class or 2. There are alot more flight school / college pairings popping up since these benefits were approved. Hopefully you can find some way to take advantage, you earned it!
