What's the Latest at ASA/Expressjet?
That's 10 more than we had going to ExpressJet. Look, I'm not trying to get in a ****ing contest over stuff that honestly doesn't pertain to your airline's thread. I just get sick of seeing all of the unfounded low blows directed at us. You want to be mad? Don't be mad at PSA for trying to secure our own futures (and honestly, the contract that was ratified was hardly concessionary. It was give and take, like most contracts are. Some things improved, some didn't). Regionals were not meant to be made a place to call home. And we didn't ask for Envoy's 700s. That was DP's game plan. At least they are staying under the AAG umbrella and not being farmed out to a lower cost regional.
Don't listen to the negative guys here. I'm new at XJT(Legacy ASA side). My whole class and the classes before us and after us got ATL right out of class.
Ask for the CRJ if you want Atlanta, because ERJ will be the legacy XJT operations.
Its not all rainbows and unicorns at XJT, or any regional. If you know what to expect going in, you wont be mislead or disappointed.
If you want the job, just go in and do your best. All the airlines need pilots right now. Be open and honest about your history.
I came from flight instructing and had next to zero turbine experience. Training was harder for me that the military guys flying KC-135's and C-17's, but they gave me extra sims when I needed it, and I passed the check ride without issues. The training team is awesome!! They want you to pass and succeed.
Yes, I still have stars in my eyes and have that "New FO smell", but I have always believed a job is what you make it. Will you be on reserve? Yes. Will you upgrade? Eventually (8 Years?). But, the major airlines are hiring FOs, so you may not have to.
I think now is a great time to be in the airlines. You are going to see rumors that say "we will be bought next week", to "we will be closing the doors next week".
Just go do your job, and be happy your flying a jet.
The pay sucks, so be prepared. It sucks everywhere to start.
I love it right now!!!
If you have questions please PM me, and I will answer you honestly.

Management came to the pilot group 3 seperate times. The first two times, when our pilot group voted no, the proposed flying went elsewhere. The third time, the pilot group was threatened with further reduced flying and possible shutdown. Or, ratify an agreement that in all honesty was hardly concessionary and offered growth to a small airline that could of been easily and quickly put out of business. Look at Envoy. Huge pilot group, lots of airplanes. Not so easy to just shut down. But you can bet Doug called their bluff. So what makes you so sure that PSA wouldn't have been sent the way of the buffalo by Doug Parker and AAG? And further more, why should our pilot group have been sacrificed in the interests of "the better good for the industry"? And why did ALPA, the union that represents both of our pilot groups stand by and allow AAG to essentially take advantage of two ALPA regional air carriers? Answer: because this sector of the industry is broken. No one is looking out for anyone else and ALPA doesn't represent our best interests. I had disdain for PSA before I chose to come here. Then I talked to friends flying for several different regionals (to include yours). They all told me the same thing. Go somewhere that is an easy commute and offers a reasonable upgrade time. Don't spend the next 5 years of your life on the bottom of a "good regional's" seniority list on reserve. And you know what, they were right. My decision is affirmed more and more every day by the pilots who have come to PSA from every other regional. Is our company and pay amazing? No. Is it awful? No. are there issues here? Of course. But I venture an educated guess that our issues aren't any worse than the other regionals, and in fact may be much better. There are plenty of people to be mad at, but PSA quite honestly isn't one of them. Not sure why every other airline's thread has to have something about PSA in it, but if you insist, at least stop with the misinformation.
Why did ALPA, the union that represents both ALPA carriers? Firs of all, ALPA is your MEC. All the FFD MEC got together to sign a pact that said they wouldn't undercut each other. All of them signed, except for one.

O and BTW, I bought in to all the PSA hate. Go read my old post, but fact is it was a good deal for them that's why it passed 80%. I haven't seen any airline with 49 planes turn down 30. That's 60% growth, has your airline ever voted down 60% growth. The concessions were not in a vacuum they included 48 US Airways offers a year, there were 480 pilots on the payroll. 480/48=10 years. The cap was 12 years. The PSA pilots sold their future pilots position just like mainline has done countless times.

Also, heard a rumor that yall's joint contract might include the ERJ package for all the current ERJ drivers, but the New hires would work under different rules. The only problem is executing two contracts all the time or it might have already happened. Do you care to debate the merit of that, or how its any different in principle than the PSA TA that everybody loves to hate.

This is great and is highly encouraged to do for volunteer work - you are giving back to your community.
Although, I would not say doing this gets you noticed better than being a recruiter. Several of our FO recruiters have been hired at a majors while captains with turbine pic have not. Being a recruiter will allow you to be at all the locations the majors are at and put a face to a name for you - and you are getting paid to do it not paying out of your own pocket.
Mr. Bill Kenedy (manager of pilot hiring) said it best "we know you can fly the airplane if you have no training issues and quite a bit of time at you company. What we can't tell on paper is if you are a good fit with our values, culture, and work well with our people."

You must be a lifer here.
If you want to be a lifer here, then yes, this company is probably a good choice for the long term. HOWEVER, if you want to be at a regional for the LEAST time possible to move on to a major, then I would suggest looking elsewhere. This airline is stagnant. It has a pretty good contract considering, and we refuse to vote in anything worse, which is good for the long term. So if you're old or looking for a career regional, then yes, come here!!!

That was formed and signed after the PSA vote, and PDT was the one airline that didn't sign it. They made no bones about it they were out for a deal, if "concessionary" damn, if not, awesome, but a deal was going to happen.

I was just pointing two things. ALPA is YOUR MEC. They are the ones who make these deals, not anybody else. And second, it only takes one MEC to get the dominos falling.
As for my regional, all I can say is that they hinted at roses if we voted in our concessionary TA and promised a static fleet plan (parking of ALL aircraft as leases and CPAs expired by December 31, 2017) if we didn't ratify. Eighteen months later, they've parked dozens aircraft and we are just now getting back to the negotiating table. I still don't see any panic. Definitely not from me.

I'll be glad to debate it when I see that as a TA.
