Eagle lost to ExpressJet

Well...I was looking on the employee travel website on AA and went to a date of February 28, 2013.

Several flights no longer say "This flight is operated by AMERICAN EAGLE AIRLINES". They now say, "This flight is operated by EXPRESSJET AS AMERICAN EAGLE".

Some stations I found that were listed as ExpressJet were: MAF ABI AMA CLL HOU LIT SHV TXK VPS (beach layover). That was when I stopped researching and had a couple drinks ...

Why is Eagle hiring?

N927EV 12-02-2012 12:34 AM

Easy...attrition. No future here and people are bailing. You'd have to pay me a lot more than 5k to come here.

"Thanks for making your travel plans with American, operated by American Eagle, on ExpressJet.";)

If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny.

I don't get why they're hiring either. If they're hiring due to attrition, it must be one of two things-

1. CA's leaving for better jobs, meaning upgrades (hopefully)

2. Jr. FO's leaving to go to XJT.

Either way, it's a mystery why a carrier that just lost some of their flying would be hiring.

Why is Eagle hiring?

This was announced months ago!

Eagle lost to ExpressJet

This is very old news..

AA just announced recalls starting Jan 9..so that's also a contribution to the hiring going on

RJ Pilot 12-02-2012 06:38 AM

Only if xjet would get the same quality of training that eagle gets.

That's funny right there. How does your head fit through the flight deck door?

Why is Eagle hiring?

I was wondering the same thing on the hiring issue. The conclusion that makes sense is that Eagle isn't losing any flying despite Xjet doing some of their flying.

The day the judge through out the AMR CBA with the pilots management immediately went and dissected the scope clause. So they gave Xjet some of Eagles flying and took some more AMR flying and are going to give it to Eagle. Less for AMR.

So Im sure the hiring is due to normal attrition and probably some growth off the backs of AMR employees.

Kind of sad how they do things.

VPS is a nice overnight

freezingflyboy 12-02-2012 07:32 AM

Why do I feel like we've already been discussing this for months?

Sure hope the OP doesn't check the LAX schedules. *Gasp* looks like SkyWest is doing some Eagle flying out there! Have you guys heard about this!? Oh noes!

/sarcasm

Thank you Sherlock. I realize that. But you can now see what routes they'll have.

posted on Eagle lounge weeks ago. Bigger news is that over 100 guys might be to AA by spring.

Yes. Thanks. I'm up on all that **** .

My post was more about realizing which routes we're losing. Losing our best overnight. And why the heck were hiring if there is no fleet plan. Losing a base. And losing ~20% of Dallas flying. Probably going to hire only to then furlough while your in the sim getting trained on the plane.

Me thinks you are perhaps not as "up on all that $#!(" as you would like to think or have us believe...

Sucks you lost the VPS overnight though. If it was anything like ours (XJT) then it was definitely one of the best in the system. When I was a senior FO I'd do whatever it took to get the long one.

Oh. It's okay. Cus they're changing hotels in VPS to save a penny per night per crew member. So you won't be on the beach

Vertisch 12-02-2012 07:58 AM

They changed our long one months ago. We now overnight at walmart. They seem to be on a quest to get rid of any nice overnights.

The new hotel isn't bad as people say. Just walk across the street thru the private resort/condo area to get to the beach. The sign is there just to scare you. No one is watching.

And we're going to be changing hotels again to the Hampton Inn on the island.

Wrong..there's a fleet plan..it just hasn't been made public to us peons..my guess is we'll hear something within a few days of Dec 7.

Why Pearl Harbor day?

450knotOffice 12-02-2012 01:22 PM

AA pilots LBFO 2 vote ends that day. If their TA passes, the idea is that AMR will make clear their plans going forward.

buddies8 12-02-2012 09:07 PM

AA 757's and S80's transfered to Skywest to fly as AA codeshare for oneworld. New TA allows retired AA aircraft now to be flown by new entrant carrier.

Lol. Does ANA do that in japan lol as Air Japan ? Hire 767's to fly their colors ?

ja2c 12-03-2012 09:03 AM

I agree, our long overnight in VPS was pretty sweet. The hotel by walmart isn't bad though. It's a short walk to pineapple willy's. Or you can get a 12 pack of beer at walmart on your way to the beach. What else could you ask for?!

buddies8 12-03-2012 09:05 AM

a girl with the 12 pack

So says every pilot from every flight school, airline, 135 outfit, corporate dept, military squadron, etc....

Don't forget...my dad can beat up your dad, and the sports team from my area is superior to the sports team from your area.
