ExpressJet New-Hire Gross Salary, etc.

Hello Gentlemen, upcoming airline pilot here..

I wanted to ask what a first year FO can expect to gross, given $23/hour, adding in per diem and considering the current work rules.

Any there any recent hires that could give an idea of the experience?
Chances of getting ATL base out of training?
What is current reserve time on the 200 or 700/900 out of ATL?
How often do reserve guys who put down "will-fly" get called?

I'm going to keep this brief as possible.

I'm on the LXJT side flying the -145, but I would imagine, if you wanted the CRJ most likely they would give that to you-just my opinion. Not sure about being based in ATL, not sure how junior it is on that side.

As for my side, doesn't matter if you put "Will fly" or not, usually you will be used on reserve regardless due to low staffing. This time last year I flew 15 hours/month on reserve..this year I'm flying right around 75..if I wanted to fly more I'm sure they would find something for me. Usually for a given month I can count on one or two days not being used if I'm lucky.

As for gross pay, if you are being paid 23/hr that roughly equates to $23,000/yr.

One great thing about XJT is the contract. We usually stay in decent hotels, 11-12 days off a month on reserve which isn't too bad compared to other places, fair sick policy, commuter clause, and airport reserve is only 4 hours-unlike other places. That being said...do your research. Nobody knows what's going to happen to us in another year or two, but then again the industry is changing so quickly, no matter where you go things may look very different in a few years. Good luck.

Not so sure what's so great about the XJT contract. 23 an hour is so low and every other regional gives a minimum of 11-12 days off every month. Seems like all the regionals are turds, just of different color;)

^ha yep totally agree. Just do your research before you come, as anyone should before making a career move.

Which regionals give RESERVE pilots 11-12 off a month? I'm very curious.

Mesa reserve pilots get 11.

I stand corrected though I believe most regionals are 10. I don't want to bash other regionals as we are all loyal to our own, even if it barely registers. XJT gets 11 min for reserve and then 12 min for line. Top tier for regionals. 100% cancellation pay. I'm not sure, but I know of a certain air carrier in the DFW area that could have used that yesterday.

Point is, like previously said, do your homework and go where is right for you. Ask the recruiters/interviewers the hard questions so you can make a good decision. It's a two way interview, don't forget that.

I started to ask some stuff here based on what Jaww said, then decided to make my own thread so as not to derail this one.
