When Pandas fly ...

.

Bao Bao (the Giant Panda at the National Zoo) will fly back to China on Tuesday on A FedEx 777.

Are the kilt wearers already in "crew rest"?

Wrong direction. Management pilots only do deliveries from China, not to China. No publicity on returning Pandas. Expect Bao Bao to fly through the Memphis hub, like most freight doing a "hub turn" and head to Alaska with a whistle stop in Anchorage. The crews will all be reserves. No one will even take notice of Bao Bao riding on a belt in the hub, heading to the Anchorage flight.:D

According to the CNN Politics article, "Bao Bao will fly nonstop from Dulles, Virginia, to Chengdu, China, in a large crate aboard the custom-decaled 'FedEx Panda Express' 777F aircraft. She will be accompanied by a keeper and a veterinarian."

That means it will be a charter, which means it was put in open time, immediately frozen, and at the perfect time was unfrozen and picked up by ... well, we all know the rest.

And 2223 and 2224.

Flt 9751, 16:20 block, Part 91

23:00 layover before they start, then 20:30 layover before they continue to KIX (again, Part 91, and the RFOs riding as PAX), and then D/H home.

(Wanna see something confusing, look at Seat and Role for everyone on 2222. CAP (seat) is RF2 (role), F/O is RFO2, RF2 is PIC, and RF2 is RFO1. ???? They're going to be so fatigued and confused when they land in Chengdu, they won't even notice the language barrier. )

As I recall, the Kilt Flight was MEM-ANC, twelve hours off, ANC-Chengdu, twelve hours off, then Chengdu to Scotland. And only three of the pilots were legal to fly.....

Pandastrike!

What's this about flying pandas?! A NOTAM should be published immediately! One of those babies could take out both windshields and smash right through the cockpit!

They can hide their calendars, but they can't hide the trips.

Just saw a interview with the crew of the Panda Express on the local DC channel with the Fleet Captain. He said this was his second time transporting Pandas. Do the the Fleet Captains get to pick their trips (like most airlines) or do they have to go out for bid? Just curious
