Default IND Domicile

Can anybody comment on IND domicile QOL vs staying MEM and picking up IND deadheads? Previous posts didn't seem to address this directly and I've heard some conflicting information coming from the rumor mill.

Not sure if there is even a chance for a newhire FO, but if it means better/more time with my family, it's a future goal of mine.

Thanks!

Do you live in IND, or within an hour'sh of the Airport?

If so, an IND award would be beneficial.
Barring that, probably better at Memphis as your relative Seniority will improve quicker and there's more flexibility as compared to a smaller base.

There is a chance for a new hire but I would not count on it as a primary plan. Many of the IND legs start with deadheads so really doesn't matter where you live. Also, many of the legs are high block coast to coast trips when compared to memphis 767. Sitting reserve or living near an airport with multiple daily flights to IND would be the only advantage to being based there.

Current training letter does not show any new hire slots for Indy. There were a few recently and of course always subject to change.

There won't be as much movement at IND for a new hire unless they expand the base when the classic 767 go away. Depending upon where you live, check the commute. It's much harder to get there if the city you live in doesn't have a Fedex flight that goes to/from IND for all of the sorts.

Yeah, i live within reserve time, so it would be pretty sweet...didn't get it on the practice bid...but maybe in the future.

Practice bids only occasionally mirror reality.

most of the time they change dramatically. seems some people prefer to see the what ifs electronically versus mentally penciling themselves into the list

Looking at the monthly bid results, you would need to be hired before 2004 to consistently hold reserve in IND. Junior to that, and you are probably holding a less than desirable flying line.
