77 MEM Reserve
How has this situation evolved? As a purple hopeful who's blessed with a high ending SS# and who would gladly move to MEM and is interested in the 77, I have the following questions.
1.How senior is RB?
2.What's the utilization like?
3.How long before you could expect a secondary line?
4.What sort of trips/lines go junior or are generally considered less desirable and end up in the secondary line pool? (I'm assuming its the short trips)

2. In the COVID era, you can expect to be called pretty much every time on reserve.
3. Secondary lines often go to the most junior pilot. You can generally hold them almost immediately.
4. It's hard to describe what ends up in the secondary pool because it's all over the place. I would not say that it's mostly short trips; there are plenty of longer trips and even single departure lines in the secondary.
If you're a high SSN and willing to move to MEM, you literally can't go wrong.

I'm anticipating commuting from BDL to MEM...looking for:
- insight into the relative ease or pain of that commute
- advice for what to bid (I have a very low SSN; 15xx)
I've used the jumpseat finder and it looks like there are 2-3 flights per day. I'm asking, though, because the 2017 posts about the commute out of Boise made me realize (once more) how much I don't know about all this stuff.
Thank you!

Jumping in on FedEx aircraft shouldn't be a problem at all. As far as aircraft to bid, it depends. If you want a single commute a month, 777 out of MEM or ANC would work. Otherwise, just bid what you want to fly.

Hey kids,
I am very VERY new to the airline world. I almost need a translator to understand all the terms you guys are using. I am going to be direct, I have some simple questions. If I get hired tomorrow:
What does the average day of the first year look like?
How long am I usually on duty? How many days/hours do you work?
Any Vacation days during the first few years?
How does the reserve work? If I am base in Memphis, are you on standby at home?
What does the average route look like?
Health benefits? Do they pay for family medical or just pilots?
Answers are probably hidden in this discussion. But I can't find them in a simple way.
Thank you for your help. Fell free to PM or answer on this thread.

So what you are really saying is you are too lazy to read the info that is already here and want someone to spoon feed you.

Fly trip, it rocks.
Drive back to your house or crash pad. Go to sleep. Do it again another day .
Get senior or get really old flying crappy trips. Your choice, choose wisely.
The end.
