I've only seen "Seasoned Tuna Medley." Tuna salad would be better.

I like it, but don't usually eat it in the cockpit because of its strong aroma which offends some. While it seems a little old, it beats slices of pepperoni or a jerky stick as a source of lean protein.

What would you recommend as a replacement?

I'm talking about the ice cream scoop of it they put on a bed of lettuce. I've never seen anyone eat it...always gets thrown out and if you get stuck with it, you're kinda hosed if you actually rely on the catering for nourishment. The grilled chicken salad is ok, but throw a sub roll with deli meat in there instead of the tuna fish...

Call me weird but I like tuna salad. I can understand not wanting it on a menu that you don't have a choice of whether you get it or not, but on the international side, I frequently order it over the steak or corkys.

PeterGriffin 06-25-2017 05:48 PM

I have no problem with it being on the intl selection, but, like you said, if you don't have a choice, it kinda stinks. I was just gaging people's thoughts about it. So far, the tuna is up 2 to 1, so, maybe I'm the weirdo, flying with all the other freaks that don't like tuna...

I would vote against it, or anything else that is mayonnaise based in the catering.

Ahh, my mistake. My duty times rarely merit actual catering, so I was thinking MS, aka Scooby Snacks.

I always let the other guy pick first, and I'd guess it's close to half the time I get the tuna. I think it's intended to make a sandwich, but I skip the bread. I think it's pretty good. I can remember guys going to great lengths to have more tuna sandwiches included in catering.

I can see, though, if you don't care for it, it shows up too often.

It's been a while since I got to order international catering. :(

More likely to go bad when either not taken proper care of, or delayed. Even if you generally like it, good thing to skip.

Get rid of it

We get catering?

I'll bet if you spray that insecticide on the tuna it will kill any bad bacteria.

KYTBRD 06-26-2017 07:05 AM

I haven't been at FDX too long but I would say the Scooby snack tuna can gets thrown out or left for the ground folks 8 out of 10 times. The meal/"ice cream" scoop on the salad rarely gets eaten. I would toss both and put in the beef jerky instead.

fdx727pilot 06-26-2017 08:31 AM

When BQN was eligible for catering, the tuna sandwich was my meal of choice.

You played too much "Leisure Suit Larry" in the 80's.

Its awful.

Needs to go away.

mempurpleflyer 07-01-2017 05:11 AM

Other than an insight report, do we have any input into our catering? My experience so far is a lot of the items in the Scooby snacks get tossed. If you don't like tuna you are out of luck because they almost all have it now. No real variety in the different colors. I haven't got to experience the amazing 777 intl catering but on the domestic side, it is lacking. No oven in the 757 so I know it has to be cold but I think we could do better. Even the ready made sandwiches you buy in the airport terminal are much tastier than what we get. Better than nothing - yes but can't we do better without necessarily being more expensive?

Purple,
Are you saying you tried an Insite report to no avail? Or you just think it won't make a difference?
I've gotten fairly quick responses to the few reports I've put in for catering (however it was pre-Insite). Generally speaking whether it's food, hotels or GT, those reports do get seen and appear to be taken seriously.

Shoot, if I had one available Guido, I'd do it just because of that post. Hilarious. :D

PeterGriffin 07-01-2017 07:21 AM

Insite response was, many crews really like the tuna...apparently there are a lot of closet tuna lovers...he did say the catering group meeting is coming up pretty soon and he would bring up my concerns...if you like it or not, fill out an insite, they will respond rather quickly and it might make a difference...
