I was told by a very reliable source that the union is presenting their plan to change retirement to the company this week.
So much for letting the crew force know what is happening and what the results of their research are. So if the company says they are not interested in that plan, are they going to adjust the plan and go back to the company and see if they are happier now? Just as much transparency as there has ever been.

If the union is talking to the company, I would expect them to let us know first.
If they do not, then I have lost all faith in "my" union.
I have been hear 20 years and have been constantly told that it's "my" union. Yet when I have asked my block rep or NC to fix something in the contract for us, even something simple, they can't be bothered.
The union leadership has its own agenda, and it does not always agree with the average crew force member's needs. They think they are smarter than us, and they have proven they are not.
ALPA national is even worse. They are self serving for the pax carriers. What ever happened to "one level of safety"? They are a joke. They take our money, and spend it to help the pax carriers. We are an after thought, if we are even a thought at all. We are suckers, paying our dues to an organization that cares little about our needs.
We are being cheated on per diem, but ALPA won't negotiate to raise it more than a nickel or dime because they don't get dues from it.
The union did a hard sell on the last contract, despite telling us they wouldn't. If they had done a better job, they wouldn't have to do a hard sell, and it would have passed by 90%. We got played, again, like always.
No wonder many of us are concerned about them negotiating away our retirement.
The company has no reason to give us a better deal out of Section 6. If they agree to a deal, you can bet it is in their favor, not matter how the union "leadership" spins it.
Beware! Think before you vote on anything!!!

I watched that video...seemed pretty vague. He talked about how major league baseball had this type of plan, but in my opinion, they have to have a plan like that since they get traded from team to team all the time. There were no specifics on how much more we could get by having this type of retirement plan, however he did say that it would adjust up and down depending on the performance...hmmm...also, sounds like this plan will not be covered under PBGC should it fail...if our pension plan was under funded and fedex was struggling as a company, might be worth a look, but all I see is more risk for us, less obligation for the company...just my 2 cents...

I watched the video. I'm willing to at least look at what they are proposing. But after 25 minutes, they really didn't show what it actually IS. This is a variable plan, blah, win win, blah. If they want trust from the crew force we need to see the actual proposal, numbers by the numbers, formally.
Just my humble, junior opinion.

'Proposal from pilots that reduces contribution and funding volatility and allows FedEx to better manage and budget its pension obligations will be well received.'
Bullet point 3 from Action Plan
Thank goodness this proposal will be 'well received'.

Reminded me of getting invited to a presentation that was told was a great potential for early retirement. After a lot of how much money everyone on the stage has made and how they retired early was told it was Amway!
I do not wanna sell job,I want hard numbers because that is what I have right now. Saying it can go up and down with the market does not sound very secure to me. Just more risk.
If it saves the company money, that money better go in my pocket! Otherwise I am not interested.
