But they promised that all FedEx pilots would share in any judgement or settlement. So if there was a settlement, there should be a sharing out. But you're right... "I got mine, so, non-discloure agreement!" As an absolute minimum, the contributors should get a refund.

So, how would you feel if a pilot you were hired with retires at 60 with 25 YOS gets $160K per year and you decide to stick around for 2 more years and the market goes south and you get $120k per year.
What if the new plan is constantly being adjusted even after retirement and when you are 68 and have a large expense and the market loses 30% and your DB goes from $150K, money you were counting on, to $85K that year?
Would you be willing to give up the retirement notification bonus that only pilots who are 56 or older are eligible for to get this so called better plan? That's money that at least 80% of the crew force isn't eligible to receive. How much risk/reward are you willing to take?

One thing I found both fair and galling in contract 2015 was any meanful improvement in B plan %. Everyone lost on retirement, old and new alike. Yet a majority voted yes. It's incredible to me that one of the major pluses of working at Fedex vs any other airline, our 5 star retirement plan, we voluntarily reduced to second class status.
As far as risk is concerned. I've stated several times, we carry risk in different forms with both the A and B portion of our retirement. The biggest benefit of the A plan (IMHO) is the life time payout. Good till death do us part . even if it will be diminished the longer we live.

We had the best retirement in the business in 2014. We have the best retirement in the business in 2017. That does not mean I think it can't be improved. But why trash the A Plan to do it? Keep what we have and add to it. When UPS added to their A Plan they did not scrap the basic 1% that has been in their contract forever, they supplemented it.
This does not mean I don't think we should be talking to the company now.

Not to be a negative nelly, but, I've heard the arguments about how they've "stressed tested" this new proposed plan in all kinds of economic downturns, but, have they looked at what happens if we lose the postal contract, and WB captains are now NB f/o's, what about another 4a2b? There are always gonna be downturns in this industry...right now, if I make 260k for 5 years and stay on property 25 years, I've got 130K at retirement. Will that be true with new proposed retirement?

First post I found with the search function. There are many others. The Irony is I was essentially defending the union position not the company's.
