Default FedEx Pilot Credentials question

I've searched the forum and did not get any results on this topic. I apologize in advance if it has already been answered...

I'm getting ready to start my FedEx app and I am presented with the following question:

Do you have at least 1500 hours total fixed wing time as PIC or SIC in multiengine turboprop or jet A/C or combination thereof.

I have about 1200 hours of PIC in a single seat military fighter and about 200 hours of SIC (student) time in military jet trainers.

Taking the question at face value, it would be an obvious no as I do not meet the minimum requirements. However on the FedEx pilot credentials Q&A page, it talks about a conversion for military sorties and how it will be automatically converted once you input the number of military sorties.

My question is, Do I answer yes to the above question assuming that I will have over 1500 hours PIC and SIC in a jet when I add the conversion?

I also have not seen anything that talks about what exactly is the conversion factor that will be added. On the Southwest site, it explicitly tells the applicant to add .3 per military sortie.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know if 200 hours of student time is really considered "SIC". I think before you answer that question on the app, you should try to get some kind of guidance on the student time. Maybe someone here already knows.

Kind of frustrating to be asked to provide an answer to a question without knowing the specifics they actually use to determine the correct answer.

Either way it's going to be close. If they let you count the student time (and sorties for conversion) then it would seem like you're good. If not, then it seems like it might be tight.

As far as student time is concerned, on the AA pilot credentials site it actually says to count all student time as SIC. I have a friend who emailed Southwest pilot credentials and was told to count student time as SIC.

Unfortunately on the Fedex site there is no additional info on how to count student time or if you are allowed to use a conversion factor to answer "yes" to the original question. Any insight on the topic would be greatly appreciated!

I counted all my student time, undergraduate and IQT, as SIC simply because there wasn't a "student flight time" category for the break down of flight time. Not saying I did it right, it's just what I did. (It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out that 9 hours of T-37 PIC is solo time and 80 hours of SIC was as a student.)

If you apply the 0.2 military to civilian conversion factor to your 1200 hour number and you are >1500 hrs I would say "yes" because the application will say so when you eventually input those numbers.

I was advised by a highly paid consultant from a well-known company to put "SIC includes dual" in the Notes box on pilotcredentials. Now you can count the time because there is no where else to put it, you are putting your best foot forward, and you are being upfront about what you did so that there is no question that you were being honest.

Thanks to all that replied...With the .2 per sortie and student time in the SIC column, I meet the 1500 hour requirement.

As a new member of this forum, I'm amazed at the knowledge that people have and their willingness to share it. As a fellow hopeful member of the FedEx team who is close on meeting the minimum requirements, I was hoping someone in the know could shed some light on what [email protected] has had some trouble explaining.

Short hour summary:
2k Total
1050ish PIC Multi Engine Jet
(F15C 730 PIC of which 275 IP, T38C 200, T37 125)
900ish T6
50 misc single engine piston

My dilemma: The application clearly says 1500 Multi or Jet time 1000 PIC preferred. At the time I sent in my app I was showing "all green" in the "carrier quals" section of globalpilotcredentials for FedEx prior to porting my app over. Then after reading on this forum from a while back a guy who also flew T6's said he was short because his T6 time didn't count because not a multi engine or jet.

So, I asked support what the real answer was and if my T6 time carried me over the hump they said they didn't know but thought I was short. They referred me to the carrier quals and when I said I was green, it magically changed and they told me I was short.

I then asked about the Q&A page on fedex.pilotcredentials that reads

"A: Some examples of military jets in the tactical category are F-18, F-15, F-16, S-3, and other single pilot jets including training aircraft. "

my rationale being Eagle time was lumped in with training aircraft so I must be good. Right?

At first they agreed that would apply to my trainer aircraft time but said they would get back with me. After a couple of days, they said they "thought" the Q&A quote was old data and not what the company wants anymore and I am 450 hours short of the 1500. That was 4 months ago and the website still lumps trainer time in with fighter time.

After this back and forth I'm not sure what is going to happen. I'm trying to work a Palace Chase timeline to full time or part time orders and am debating if I should fight for 2 year orders to get me 450 hrs of Eagle time or if I meet the mins now. If I'm good now I obviously want to go part time and be available ASAP. If anyone has some SA on what the company actually wants I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance

For those that are in a similar bind. I finally got in touch with someone in HR and got the "real" answer from FedEx. T6 time doesn't count under the "military single pilot trainer" aircraft exception listed on the Q&A page. She was less concerned about the number of motors, and more concerned with the MGTOW being less that 12.5.

You need to quit the military asap and go to a regional to get your hours quick. The way they utilize people nowadays, you should get your hours in 3 years or less.
