Be careful used to fly TLC regularly and back then 10 yrs ago you wanted to be sure and go on the toll expressway I believe and kidnappings were common on the other highway between TLC and MEX.

You're gonna want an armed escort.

And a large Americano.

This might be one of those trips where it is better to take the scheduled transportation.

Laugh not the last time I dead headed in to MEX and ground transported to TLC that is basically what happened. I had not deviated and the regional company security guy relayed to me who to meet and not to go with anyone else and the van was not stock and they had someone tailing them. I was surprised as the only other time we had gone the other way TLC to MEX about 5 years before and went in the old Caprice Classic. Times they be a changing. Sadly I used to love the GDL, MTY layovers before all the bad stuff started happening.

I'm not laughing.

There was so much staring and drooling I felt like the talent at the Bunny Ranch.

I recently returned to the US after a several year assignment to Mexico City. I lived in Mex City and flew out of TLC. I’m not sure what arrangements FedEx makes for this transportation, but I agree that it is probably best to use it.

I Always used 15, the toll road (the signage will read “Mexico Quota”) and then various routes through the city (Google Maps for traffic) if I had to go to MEX. Armored vehicles with a trailing escort are very common and used by many locals. I always drove by myself and never had any issues except traffic.

I guess my main point is not to worry about it that much. Yes the violence in Mexico is bad, but that part of the country and the route you’ll use is safer than a lot of the country.

In December 2016 a three person corporate crew was kidnapped when they left MMTO for the Marriott Courtyard. They were in an unsecured taxi and intercepted by a van. They were held for six hours before being released. I wouldn’t deviate.

Please post your relative seniority before seeking guidance. You might get some different answers from guys that are junior to you or are outside looking in than the guys who are are more senior...

"Just get a cab...hell....stop and grab some Tequila to take home while you are at it. It's a great place to get out and look around...."

FWIW....I stayed on jet after I operated in out of GDL when I had a B/E deadhead and chugged on back to Memphis that night and used the bank later. I didn't care to mess with GT issues or Mexican passenger terminals. But I speak not a word of Spanish, and other folks may be a bit more encouraging.
