ANC schools/best family 'hood
 

Anyone have any personal experience with ANC? Thinking of bidding it in the future. The school ratings on Zillow aren't great, but I'm sure that's not the whole story. Thanks!

Lower Hillside is usually the best bet school-wise. South High school and the surrounding middle schools. Kempton hills is the base housing option with nice zero lot homes, that will be easy at resale. Not exactly the full Alaska exp though.

I'll second that. South side is the place to be. I lived about halfway up the Hillside at the corner of Birch and Huffman.

The thing to remember is the higher you go on the Hillside, the more winter you have. My recommendation would be to stay South but find something down below.

The other factor is the higher you go the more you need 4 wheel drive to get home. We were there before South High was built, but the kid went to Goldenview Junior High and that school was good back then.

Depends on the age of the kids. Theres a magnet school in the sand lake area for elementary kids and Diamond HS isn't bad. There are new and old neighborhoods there but tend to be more expensive around Campbell lake. Lots of UPS and FexEx pilots live in that area too
