Recalling Active Duty Air Force Pilots

Sounds like the pilot shortage is causing the USAF to lose their proverbial minds. Getting recalled for 3 years could put a dent in some people's plans.....

Can you spell USERRA?

My understanding is if you get recalled for less than 5 years your employer is required to reinstate you to your previous position as if you never left (your old seniority number and date of hire longevity).

Dent? That might be a big BONUS to a lot of folks!*?

from the USA Today article.
"Trump's order removes those caps by expanding a state of national emergency declared by President George W. Bush after 9/11..."

If this is true, most likely recalled under "contingency" orders and the time would EXEMPT from the 5 year limit!!:cool:

How is this a bonus to anyone?

Getting recalled would mean a big pay cut.

Everyone relax. It gives authority for voluntary recalls, just like eight years ago...except last time, I believe the AF self-capped at 550, and it was mostly flying positions (UPT, and I believe airlift, too). Pretty sure these are for rated-staff ONLY.

Good luck getting takers on that....

Who is upset?

Not upset...but numerous articles and posts show that quite a few (including the "news sources") think this is an involuntary draft.

How about if you're a new hire on Reserve for the next 2 years? You might be able to come back as a senior f/o waiting for a Captain bid!
