Default Toco loco

So our "scheduled" pairings say one thing with respect to block ie: mem hubturn with 7+35 scheduled block and now TOCO revises the leg while in cruise to save fuel. Sounds like a circumvent to scheduling parameters. The key word with the FAA is "scheduled" while the TOCO program is "operational"? Cargo cutout at its best! Of course the potential for hard time trips but at 4 am..... baahhhh!

Probably not going too be many complaints from the 777 crowd about this (at least the ones with a clue). Having a legit reason to slow down besides a rough ride or ATC directive and add minutes to the bottom line on the over-8 flights always makes me $$$mile.

Although there are a number of guys on this jet don't seem to "get" that.

Yeah, I think our "scheduled" pairings are built around barber pole anyway. With these reduced rest periods built in, there should be a lot of trip revisions flying cost index 0. have you noticed they started deicing at the gates now so a block out isn't triggered?

I haven't deiced in two years....... jinxed myself now. But, I'll take your word for it.

Are you sure that's to avoid the block out? I thought it might be because there's less chance of destroying a couple of de-ice trucks every ice event if the aircraft isn't capable of moving under it's own power.

Number of reasons, saves gas, safety, delays block out time. Not sure if there are EPA drains at the gates though? My guess the cost index 0 won't be much of player when Memphis is consistently 30+ minute sort delays. The down stream effect is too costly paying Rampers, delivery drivers, Feeder pilots, etc. overtime to hang around while we operate in slow flight.
